Beast boss fight help saving Abigail (seems impossible)
This is my first time playing this game and I sided with Abigail and am trying to keep her alive but she dies in a matter of seconds to all the dogs. Group style is more of a harm then helpful in this fight because if I go near her to where all the dogs are my group style hits her as well which just escalates my problem. I hate that it has friendly fire. Any tips or suggestions for how to quickly end this fight while keeping her alive? I don't have a silver sword yet and I am unsure where to get one and I don't have any of that weapon oil stuff either (I've never needed it before so that's why I don't use it). I've heard some people say that if you level up Aard enough then you can just knock Beast down and 1 shot him but I haven't leveled up either of my powers yet so that's not an option for me either.

This is impossible. She faints, but will be alive after the fight.

You don't find a silver sword in the outskirts. No (upgraded) Aard, no specter oil: Bad preparation means bad results - isn't it like in RL - or you are lucky:steamhappy:. Best solution if your DL isn't easy: Load an earlier save. Or try this solution:

1. The fight will begin at 0.00 - no matter when Geralt arrives in the cave. So potions and oils may expire if applied too early.
2. Meditate in the cave until 23 h. Geralt consumes swallow and tawny owl - hope you have some.

3. Leave the cave. Interrupt cutscenes with ESC, interrupt dialogue lines by clicking into the screen. (Then it will take only some seconds til you reach the boss.)

4. Choose group style before leaving the cave.

It's important to keep Abigail on her feet: She's a healer, and a good one. She will heal herself and Geralt - as long as she is in the upright position for obvious reasons.
5. Stay near Abigail and kill the barguests first (group style!!!). When the barguests are eliminated then switch to strong style and attack the beast. Aard may be useful - but not necessary. The fight will be done in about half a minute.

Thanks for the suggestions. When you said "bad preparations means bad results" I don't really see how i could've prepared for something I had no idea was coming. As I stated this is my very first time playing the game and I don't really know anything about the mechanics or bosses. I'll retry this fight and not worry about Abigail then if she really can't die. I know group style does do friendly fire thought because previously I was escorting (vera I think was her name? The waitress in the first Inn you go to) a girl home to her grandmother's house and when we got to the village some dogs attacked me and the village militia and when I used group style they turned into enemies and attacked me.

Great pointers. I have cheesed this fight now for two hours on hard. Used all the potions I got. Diamond dust. Still getting my ass kicked. The stun (”pain”) is too long to be dealt with. I managed to cheese my way through it and beast just dropped.. maybe I managed to push it into the flames. At least I changed from push sign to fire sign. Tried to replicate the results. No luck.

Ok I managed to do it again. Used everything I had. Everything. Became a freaking cat for this battle. Squirted blizzard out of it’s sorry ass bottle at the beginning of the match. As a sly predator I take a quick turn on the right to defend abigail.

Use group style and hit the beast only if necessary. Always target ones attacking Abigail. Hope that RNG gods are with please on your sacrifice and that Abigail does not run to the flames or do anything else as stupid.

Try to time your Aards so that they would protect Abigail. Didn’t use fire for the second match I beat the beast. It felt like the group attacking didn’t actually trigger the stun attack of the beast but might be my imagination.

Changed to strong attacks to beat the beast. Maybe he was a little bit cornered to the flames on the edges. I managed to trigger this twice. Hit the beast at the right time to kill it. This has nothing to do with the left energy.

The kill seems to trigger randomly or I just managed to get just enough damage dealt. Took me almost three hours to do this twice.

I’m using steam deck.

I’m kinda feeling it through this battle. The blizzard makes the fight more manageable but after three hours I feel like it’s too random. The beast died near the fence. Maybe others who are having problems could try to push him against the fence.

Ok double checked from reddit. Just spam aard until you manage to do this one hit trigger event.
