How to beat The Beast
Was getting so frustrated with this fight and died probably like ten times to it on hard difficulty. Kept stun locking me with his pain/bite move as soon as the fight started. Here's how I did it:

- Use Specter Oil While in Cave
- Do not use potions in cave, for some reason after all the cutscenes the potion effects were gone for me, but Specter Oil remained
- As soon as fight starts, run towards and past The Beast, to the other side of the fire ring
- Drink Swallow
- Use Aard against approaching minion hounds, finish at least one stunned before Beast get to you
- Run away again, and drink Blizzard

Now what happened for me was my Toxicity was too high and everything went into slow motion. I think this allowed me to get all the time I needed to react quicker and plan my moves out more carefully, because only when it went into slow-mo was I able to beat The Beast, after at least a dozen tries.

Obviously use Group Style while there's Beast and at least 2 minions, use Fast Style if it's just him and one minion, focus on taking the minion out first.

TL;DR: At the beginning of the fight, drink a bunch of potions so you get toxicity poisoning and do the fight in slow motion

I recommend another solution:

Preparation:

1. The fight will begin at 0.00 - no matter when Geralt arrives in the cave. So potions and oils may expire if applied too early.
2. Meditate in the cave until 23 h. If you are well prepared then apply Specter Oil. Geralt consumes swallow and tawny owl.

3. Leave the cave. Interrupt cutscenes with ESC, interrupt dialogue lines by clicking into the screen.

4. If your Aard is strong (or you lucky) enough the fight will be done in some seconds:

If not:
5. Choose group style before leaving the cave.

It's important to keep Abigail on her feet: She's a healer, and a good one - as long as she is in the upright position for obvious reasons.
6. Stay near Abigail and kill the barguests first (group style!!!). When the barguests are eliminated then switch to strong style and attack the beast. Aard may be useful - but not necessary. The fight will be done in about half a minute.

I used Aard and stunned it, killing it in one hit.

I'm a dark souls veteran and here is how I beat the beast:

1. As soon as the fight begins, drink a "swallow" potion to speed up your health regen.

2. Perform a few combos on the boss

3. Start running in circles allowing for your health to regenerate.

Repeat steps 2&3 until the boss dies. It is important to maintain high health throughout this fight, as this boss can do a special attack that stunlocks you, and if your health is low, you will die.

If you upgrade aard so that you get a bonus to stun (shouldn't take that much effort to get), then all you really need to do is spam aard. It is perfectly possible for this boss fight to end in seconds if you're lucky.

Bro I remember seeing you always on here years ago when I first tried playing through this. This must be your favorite game of all time, or were you a developer for it or something? I love how much you love the game haha, honestly it's one of my all time favorite games too, right up there with FFXII. I've only ever played this one, haven't played the other two, but I hope they have the same charm that this one holds.

I'm a casual gamer and fighting the beast was a really frustrating experience. (I play in normal difficulty.) After dying and dying and dying and some googling I learned that you can cheat here. There is a nice corner (near a bench) where you can heal in peace and go back to fighting when you are ready.

Aard = stun, one-hit kill. Easy.
