Black Screen Issue on Windows 10

Been meaning to play the entire Witcher series, so naturally I'm starting at the beginning. But I haven't gotten far thanks to a black screen issue on Windows 10 that keeps happening. I've gotten to actual gameplay at Kaer Morhen one time. Within 10-15 minutes, the sound goes out and black screen appears, forcing me to restart my entire computer. I've found a thread from 2016 on reddit that describes this exactly, but the fix suggested didn't work for me. I recently posted on the r/witcher subreddit but got no response. I was wondering if anyone else had any other suggestions for me to try. Really want to get into the series.

The two main solutions seem to be either a compatibility issue with 64bit OS (change compatibility to xp 3) and a resolution conflict (run the game in windowed mode and change the resolution in game to one that you PC can run then go full screen again).
