Worth doing sidequests?

So I just started on Ch.3 and up to this point I have done pretty much every side quest available but the problem is that each side quest want me to back track waaay too much and it's kinda getting frustrating/boring.

My question is should I continue to do these annoying sidequests or just gun towards the main quest and ignore everything else?

Do the side quests remain largely the same or do they get more exciting?

Edit: If anyone is having trouble like I WAS use notepad and make a list of quests and where you need to go it helps greatly.

Yeah I guess I will try and stick out the side quests since I've already gone this far might as well keep on going - I have a lot of time off work so today I played for about 11 hours in one go (still had breaks to eat, etc.) But yeah probably why I was getting a bit annoyed.

if you aren't playing on hardest difficulties then you can disregard the notice boards at least.
