My battle with Azar Javed took 40 minutes

I just defeated Azar Javed in an epic 30 to 40 minute boss battle.

Was it really supposed to take this long? I was wondering.

Afterwards, I watched on youtube and I saw that actually Berengar is either supposed to show up at the end to help you, or if you killed him (which I did) it should end Berengar's Secret Quest and tell you that the his medallion can help you defeat Azar Javed.

For some reason, the Berengar's Secret quest never ended and I had no idea about the medallion, and so I ran away from Javed in circles for 40 minutes till I had enough endurance to cast about 100 Igni spells to win.

Berengar's Secret quest notes still says "I found Berengar, I should speak with him", even though I actually killed him at the end of Chapter 4.

Not sure I want to replay earlier parts of the game, but is there a fix for this?

Also, is there a way I can still use his medallion anyhow even though the quest broke? Not sure what I am supposed to do with his medallion and the videos didn't really show it.

Not really, Wahooka. There a several possibilities to shorten this fight; it should take a minute or so (on DL "hard") - depending on Geralt's skills (high level "Strong Style" or "Aard", "Yrden" or Dragon's Dream f.e.):

If Berengar appears this doesn't help. He's designed to die in this situation (suicidal behavior due to bad conscience) - rather a burden than support. The quality of the medaillon: correspondingly.

How are you supposed to use the Medallion of Berengar to win the boss fight?

It says in the youtube videos I watched that the medallion is the key, but I can't see what it does exactly.

i have fought with Berengar, after killed him i taken the medallion.
Later with Azar Javed the thing occurred naturally.
So, i don't know what is wrong. '-'

Well I completed the game, but still not sure what the medallion does. Maybe without it you can't kill Azar Javed at all, so maybe it worked for me anyhow?

I spared the witcher. You don't need his medallion to kill Javed
