Bug: can not progress in the final quest(Frozen Reflection)

I took the witcher's/neutral path.

After meeting Celina (moonwraith), I went all the way up to the next spot where a cutscene was supposed to happen with Jacques standing and waiting there.

The problem is, after defeating the skullhead and the Wild Hunt Wraith, the ice blocking the path does not disappear.

Watching how it is on youtube videos, normally the ice block lowers after you defeat the Wild Hunt Wraith, but this is most certainly not my case.

I have tried restarting from the fireplace just before you get teleported to the Ice plain (the order's fireplace) and rested so the potion's effect may pass. However, the iceblock is still there after going through everything.

I even uninstalled and downloaded the game again; however, the problem remains. Is there any "go through wall" mods or console commands that can help with this situation?

Looks like a corrupt savegame.

Did you use any cheats, mods, trainers, the savegame editor before reinstalling the game?

Did you try to use an earlier save?

Did you verify?

Absolutely not any of those. The game is already easy enough if you use potions, bombs or just level up igni (which makes the previous two optional). I tried going back before I entered the Ice plains in the Grandmaster Order fireplace. Since igni was so overpowered, I thought the magic was the problem. So I went through the map again using only my sword. I verified the game files before I redownloaded an after I redownloaded.

What makes this so disappointing is that this was my 3rd replay (I replayed the first time because medium felt way too easy, and I replayed the 2nd time because I missed the two boss trophies in Chapter 4)

I wanted this to be my cannon playthrough where I would be satisfied with the choice I made. I even made up an entire story behind Geralt's every decision. I read just enough stories (I stopped just before Yen's story the Last Wish) to make the most believable Geralt with memory loss. As far as I am concerned, this is it for Geralt if I can't solve the problem.


After Jacques teleported Geralt to his vision, a place between times, the Grandmaster trapped Geralt there to wander aimlessly for eternity. After a while, Geralt, having killed all monsters, found himself alone with a made-up illusion of Triss. Sometimes, Geralt wonders, what would have happened if he did not confront Jacques alone. Having lost all hope, Geralt discarded all his weapons and items, wishing to end it all (either the isolation or his life).

Eventually, Geralt stopped thinking and ceased to be. (at least until he decides to use his "time magic" to go back to the beginning of the game and start again)

I had to add a star to the link (Steam phishing filter!). For downloading you have to remove the star.

I have downloaded the save file and it worked perfectly. Comparing the files and examining closer, I think I understand what mostly caused the bug in my savefile.

Since I took the Witcher/Neutral path, Celina the nightwraith shows up instead of the faction character. Back in Chapter 4, I gave her the Wreath of Immortalles(at least the item disappears); however, she does not disappear and her character description stays the same (my dialogue with Julian does not change either).

I have looked up the wiki and forums to check at the time; after finding out it was a common problem, I dismissed the issue at the time.

My hypothesis is that the game never registered that info, or the info processing went into some kind of stalemate. After my encounter with Celina, I meet the block; it is reasonable to assume the game never realizes I finished the dialogue with Celina and never moved on (but there is the King of the Wild Hunt dialogue that happens slightly after)

It may be that the removal of iceblock requires A B C. (A being talking to Rayala, Tourviel, Celina, B - clearing monsters etc) and King of the Wild simply requires a person to be at location X.

I plan on finding a way to edit the savefiles and compare the two files in particular to examine my hypothesis (given my limited knowledge of coding, I doubt if I will be successful)

This is the same I did - with the same consequences. But I didn't follow the neutral path.
