Tips on the Dice Poker?
I'm so confused about this quest (The Novice thingy). I mean it's just there at my quest log. How am I even supposed to finish that? Plus I keep losing. I win at times, but most of the time. It's bad luck.

Novice: play with Mikul ,Odo, Haren
You only need to win once against certain players to finish the quest.
After playing with novices, you move on to professionals/ sharps etc (after beating the novice or professionals, you may need to find zoltan to update the quest)
It is basically a side quest like the fist fighting quest
You can ignore the quest if you want to

Save before playing/ or just choose the option where you gamble the least amount of money

If you have nothing, it is better not to reroll completely. I always keep the highest number(normally six) so that you have a higher chance of getting a six.

If you have two pairs that are both smaller than the opponent's three of a kind, I usually reroll the spare one and go for a full house (1/3) instead.

If you have nothing, the opponent has three of a kind, it might be a good idea to roll for a straigt.
That's a great tip. Unfortunately, I finished chapter 1 already before knowing those three are novices. So is there anyway I could still finish that quest?

Yes, there are novices in chapter 2. They are: Zoltan, Carmen, Vaska, the hospital gardener, and the Elven convict that you must play in prison.

The dice poker minigame is very poorly designed in this game anyway. The npc always gets to act last and therefore has a fairly huge information advantage. In poker terms this is called being 'in position'. They should have let you roll a dice to determine who starts the first round and then rotate. As it stands this game is basically rigged against the player, so it's not really surprising you keep losing.

I played the games needed for the quests and after that didn't bother with it.

I realized that as well, lol. I stopped playing that mini game after that, and started to just focus on other quests.

I use a mod that changes the dice box to one with a hot view of Triss. That way, even when I
lose a hand, I feel like a winner!

Actually you can consistently win some serious sums without save-loading, but it's boring and takes too long.

1. Save before you play.
2. Choose highest betting, because you not? (see no.1)
3. The moment you throw your dice. Spam left click on the dices (on air and on ground). You should see some hand holding a stick or something. You can spam left click on the dices or hover over them. (not sure about hovering).

Not entirely sure if this works, but it has significantly won me matches.

Best of luck!

Like others have said, I just save before playing and bet the highest.

The thing in this game that decides are those middl-game bets after rolling the dice. If i win the first roll and have advantage in the second, i place the highest possible middlegame bet, because chance to lose is small. I can lose 5 Games, but can get everything back by doing so in one single game
The npcs are stupid enough to exploit this, thats how I grab their money xD
