Most underrated RPG of the last couple of years
Sure, it's not as polished as a Bioware game, and it's definitely NOT an action RPG, so if you're looking for frantic action go elsewhere. The story, the characters, and yes, even the pausable combat (actually in slow-motion) are just fine. It's an intelligent game, gripping and mature, definitely not for the squeamish, with two deeply flawed, violent and fanatic protagonists. To me, it's even better than the TV series.

I really like this game too even with it's flaws and flawed characters. I really like how they have implemented the consequences system like how I was trying to get information out of this bandit and was torturing him and then he goes and dies on me O_O I then get the sadist trait for that which makes sense I guess. Makes me want to replay that scene again and see what trait I get if I am not so heavy handed on the interrogation.

When I said the protagonists are "deeply flawed" I meant ii as a compliment. They are flawed as human beings, not the standard hero types, and that's incredibly refreshing. I really care for Mors and Alester.

yup.
It`s mainly got story and it does it really well. The gameplay wasn`t anything new... except for the awesome pause in combat: Bullet-time. Totally works in that setting too! In some cases I just paused it for the awesome. xD

Also loved the plot twists and scheming in the game. Had a little too much talk. But I dunno, it actually wasn`t annoying in this game. lol.
Some games... you just wish they`d shut up, this isn`t one of them. :D

Never read any of the books or seen any of the series tho.
meh, might just take a look sometimes.

Yeah, ive only played a few hours so far, but im really enjoying it. It's not the best looking game ever, and the voice acting is questionable sometimes, but i like the story so far, and the combat is pretty fun, and challeging on the highest difficulty. I would reccommend it for fans of the books, but im not sure the average joe will like it.

okay i really like this game (helps that i am a huge song of ice and fire, the books fan) but i think your going little far out there saying that it is better then the tv show i mean is that a serious comment??

I can´t say witch one ist better, Show or Game. I think they are to different to compare.
The Show is perhaps the best Fantasy based Show ever and the Game is imho the best RPG in 2012. Okay, there is Mass Effekt 3 and it is a great Game, but it is a Shooter with Elements of Roleplaying. Game of Thrones is a pure storybased RPG and it´s well done.
I like them both :)

The series sometimes looks like a carnival. The game is grimmer and it really captures the mood of the novels. Actually, it's even nastier than the novels, and the story is marvelously told.

This game is a marvelous tale, it really makes justice to the world depicted in the books.
I recommend this to anyone who wants to enjoy a really good story.
The only that makes better than the TV show is making reference to the books constantly, but in all the other aspects, the TV series is way better..

It's definitely flawed. The combat leaves very much to be desired, but there's no denying that the story is great. It's definitely one the darkest games I've played in who knows how long. I actually played the console version as I was in the process of moving at the time. I went ahead and got every single trophy (achievement) for the game. It proved to me that, that sort of tactical combat absolutely DOES work on a gamepad and Bioware really has no excuse for changing the combat in Dragon Age 2. Man, now that was a franchise I had such high hopes for until... EA stepped in.

I'm actually considering picking up Of Orcs and Men. I heard the combat was a bit like GoT with a number of unique elements built around it to make it more than just a tacitcal RPG.

The game itself is great when it comes to the texts and dialogs. Though the gameplay, the graphics could've been better to the date of the realease, you know.

But, as a loyal fan to the books' franchise, I have to say - this game has the spirit, the soul. Rare thing nowadays.

Yeah.

It's biggest problem is that it has really low production values (i.e. it reuses maps over and over again and has very few clickable NPCs in the game worlds), but other than that it has good enough combat (think Dragon Age) and probably the best writing/story/characters of any game released this year.

This game is way, way, underrated.

I play for the story rather than the combat anyway, this thing is perfect for me. I've just played 9 hours solid and I absolutely love it. This is a million times better than Dragon Age 2... might be the best story I've ever seen in an RPG, up there with Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment.
