Wut? Denuvo was never a cheat protection. Anticheats are a totally diferent kind like easyanticheat, VAC etc.
Look at a list of Denuvo-protected games, there are lots of singleplayer titles https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Denuvo#List_of_games_using_Denuvo_Anti-Tamper

i looked it up it IS for a fact an anti cheat anti steal software and it prevents people from stealing the game ( piracy ) is what i read. So its pretty much an anti theft tool then.

Denuvo is an anti-tampering tech. Mostly it's used against piracy. By design it prevents code modification meaning cheating mods would also be hard to create. But it doesn't protect against resource modifications meaning you can put bright red colors on enemy skins which is also cheating.

denuvo is a drm protection....lets go back to 2014 and before, when cracked game was available on t0rrent 2 days before official release. so denuvo came up with unique hardware based cryptic encryption to avoid cracking of game and i think dragon age inquisition was first game. but skidr0w,ftgrl were managed to crack the game eventually, but denuvo was able to hold piracy at least until few days of release unlike earlier where the game was cracked on day one or some times even get released in t0rrent few days before official release(watch dogs 1 was cracked and released on torrent 8 days before official release date back in 2014). but downside was denuvo also caused performance issues in game.

Some games remained uncracked for quite long time periods. Just Cause 3 was for 8+ months according to the gamestatus site.

Before Denuvo, the usual bogeyman was SecuROM, but game drm has been around since the 70s? with the what letter is on page three third paragraph crap.

Single player games don't need multiplayer anti-cheat. But if the single player game mode(for games which have both) can be hacked then it becomes somewhat easy for the cheat makers to do the thing in multiplayer, as they have now a solid knowledge how the game works at a kernel level. This is where the anti-tampering tools comes in, they lock the single player mode tight so that multiplayer cheats becomes hard to engineer. Nowadays both anti-cheat and anti-tampering tools comes in one package.
