Open World Part Seems... Empty
I saw gameplay of this and was estatic that it was gonna have open world. Watched gameplay and seems like nothing is going on just an open world to walk around in and say its open world...

Idk maybe Im wrong.

The reason you did not see anything is because it is being played for demo purposes and the icons and objectives are most likely turned off. That would be my best guess, my other guess would be that we are screwed and they were indeed showing off the final build.

That sounds about right. The demos were scripted to show us specific things. I think the actual game will be quite different. There is also a new riot mode where you will encounter random riots with over 10 thugs at a time.

Maybe we've watched different gameplay videos, but the ones I've seen make the game look pretty lively.

look,I am not bashing the game here .I love the arkham games (I finished every last one of them) but the games had this recurring problem that the developers give you this beautiful, big world with things to do in them (riddler challenges, murder cases, Easter eggs, main story missions) but I can't deny the feeling that the world seemed empty at times. I hope that this is changed in the new game.

I disagree with that statement, however I would like to offer a rebuttal.

The arkham games, especially City and Origins, were massive in scale, and always had something else to do. However, their folly was the fact that the entire world was stagnant; for example, in City, there's ALWAYS the same group of thugs in front of the courthouse. No matter how many times you beat them down, they keep coming back... This is the same with every group of enemies in the game.

Because of this, once you've been around Arkham City a couple hundred times(Which you will inevitably do by the end of the main story alone), you've probably seen literally all the game has to offer within the open-world.

So then, I argue that the problem isn't that there's not enough going on in the Arkham games, but that there isn't enough randomization to keep the player interested for long periods of time. Well, that and you can only run around doing Riddler tasks for so long before you get bored and start trying to beat up political prisoners.

This seems to have at least been improved in Origins with the addition of random crimes, though I think after a while even those stop happening. In Knight, we can assume that the crime system will hopefully make its return, and we know for a fact that we'll have to deal with random raids where we'll be fighting a good 30 or 50 enemies, and with a worldmap as big as Knight's seems to be, we kinda have to assume the thugs are just randomly generated as Batman moves through the city.

You know what? I completely agree with this statement. A bit of randomization could improve the game but also.....my emptiness thing :)

Also, the OP said that first!

Look, I might have not explained well but what I meant is not the lankness of tasks but the world of the games was not alive, imagine with me arkham city with a bit of civilians. Not Spiderman games style but well written and maybe as a small community that batman actually protects.

Remember the crutch mission in arkham city? Like this one but with a bit of expanding and making the hostages matter in the long run. I mean if the game told me that there were thugs in the church, I would have cleared it no matter what of who was inside.

I figured it out! I think I want a game with the same feeling of “no man’s land” arc in the comics.

And also the GCPD in arkham knight show promise.

If your city was overrun by a collection of insane super villains would you venture outside?

Thats kind of a terrible and drawn out excuse over the last two games.

What about cops roaming the streets... Ohhhh... the thugs completely took over... again.

Should have at least added occasional cops clashing with thugs and the different thugs fighting each other.

I'm betting there's random cop chases, muggery and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ going on in the world as we play. What I'm excited the most about the game is the world's verticality.

Fully agreed about past games and the way the upcoming game looks. I don't think it looks the way it does for demo purposes and I've not seen that stated anywhere. AA got around this by keeping the quarters closed, tight, and well-planned. AC was not a great open-world design. I have hopes for AK but none of the footage indicates a very interesting world. Beautiful? Yes. Interesting? Not so much.
This is a common problem with City and Origins so no surprise here.

Not to take a fancy stroll but daily life shouldn’t seize to exist. How would I get my food? Online? :)

Verticality is not a new concept (I think) but Gliding out of speeding car will be interesting.

Oh, then it’s not only me and the OP. :)

Well the city has been evacuated, so you won't get that many people out and about. Saying that the riot system etc.. that we have seen in trailers, shows that some area are populated.

Once a city made for millions of people only has thugs left, you are not going to see 1000's of them on every street.

I think you need to learn about the story. All of this has been explained. Also Cops are roaming the streets and you have events that involve them.
