Why's it rated M?
I wonder what's been scaled up since the last games to make it rated M?

Asylum and city were both rated M too, it's no big difference.

I believe last time I checked said it was rated M due to:
Blood
Violence
Language
and some other stuff i think.

Asylum and City were "Teen". ESRB rated it "M", because game constists scene with room, all in blood, and once wheels of batmobile will be using for torture.

This is strange, because other games had bloody moments too, and had interrogations. We will look, may be THIS game really severe.

The previous games were actually rated T, but, yeah, there really isn't a huge difference between the T-rating on the previous games and the M-rating on this game. The previous games outlined alcohol and tobacco references, blood, mild language, suggestive themes, tobacco use, and violence as concerns.

Anyway, this is what's on the ESRB Website [www.esrb.org]:

Rating Category: M

Rating Summary: This is an action-adventure game in which players primarily assume the role of Batman as he battles several villains spreading chaos across Gotham City. Players traverse a variety of locations around Gotham while battling thugs, examining crime scenes, and occasionally rescuing hostages. Players engage in melee-style combat using punches, kicks, and gadgets (e.g., batarangs, explosives). Enemies cry out in pain when struck, and some takedowns are highlighted by brief slow-motion effects and loud impact sounds. Some sequences allow players to use tank-like vehicles with machine gun turrets and rockets to shoot enemies; a vehicle's wheels are also used to torture an enemy in one sequence. Cutscenes depict characters getting shot (on and off camera) while restrained or unarmed. Large bloodstains/pools of blood appear in crime scenes and in the aftermath of violent acts; one room depicts a person torturing a character on a bloody operating table. During the course of the game, players can shoot unarmed characters and a hostage [emphasis added]. Neon signs in a red-light district read “live nude girls” and “XXX.” The words “b*tch,” “gobsh*te,” and “a*s” appear in the dialogue.

While there doesn't seem to be a big difference in the content description, the rating summary cites scenes of violence (the torture and shootings). I believe that this game will have violence with greater intensity and appearance (i.e. there's going to be more of it, and some of it is going to be more graphic and "disturbing") than the previous games, hence the M-rating.

Do you think it might be rated "M", because the player uses a gun now?

i think there are also sex clubs in gotham or something.
thats what i read in an article some time ago so cannot be sure

No sex clubs in game, just neon signs with "XXX" and "live nude girls". City had signs with nude girls (outlines of body), so I think this is strange enough.

Why the hell your answer right, guy?
Batmobile havent lethal weapons.

Oh... It was joke, not seen.

My guess is to really make the new villain stand out he is gonna due some horrific things that will be worthy of that m rating

Edmek, Rocksteady said nothing bad in game. It rated M only because game have blood in some scenes, bad words like "sh*t" and "a*s", and neon things like "XXX". All of it was in Arkham City, you could saw nude girls on neon signs (just outlines of body, nothing vulgar). You could heard words like "sh*t" and "a*s", you could saw blood in some scenes.
I haven't ideas why ESRB rated it "M".

AAww , no strip club mission like Mafia 2 ? Bats could escort Commish Gordon on a "fact finding" mission in 1 or 2 of them . Detective vision at it's best !

The reason is most likely because of some torture scenes that appear in the game.

Because you are not mature enough to play it wink wink.

I'm surprised that City wasn't rated M. That game is dark. You have thugs calling catwoman the B-word a thousand times and giving innuendo of the things they'd like to do to her that are sexual in nature. You also have people being tortured by the riddler including a man who gets burned to death if you fail a riddle and you SEE it happen as he screams in agony.

I think city should have been rated M to begin with so I'm glad they are putting the correct rating on it this time.
