Playing in chronological order ie Asylum after Origins is like playing GTA 3 after GTA San Andreas.
With Origins considered release order is the best order by far imho. Playing Origins first ruins the game series natural increase in size, scope and game mechanics complexity - and especially the Deathstroke fight at the beginning of Origins will put newbies to the franchise to a test that might make them give up before they even started.
Also release order is the experience most players had when they actually played the games. There is no reason whatsoever to do anything different. Claustrophibic Asylum is the best entry one can have into the series. After that it opens up.
Reasons he should play Origins first:
1: The evolution of Batman’s relationship with the Joker, Gordon, and Alfred.
2: The beginning of his stories with killer croc, the penguin, dead shot, enigma, and Harley Quinn.
3: Batman meets Gordon’s daughter for the first time,
4: It takes place towards the beginning of Batman.
5: Bane….enough said
Reasons to not play Origins first:
1: Every other story in each game will disappoint him compared to this one.
2: Joker is peak in this game.
3: Bane isn’t as good as he is here in the rest of the series.
Then sorry for giving you the wrong hint then. :(
Regarding complexity: Origins has all enemy types established in City plus those annoying martial artist. And there are a lot more gadget stuff, combos and whatnot. I can still remeber how hard it was for me to get those double-key take downs right. Im Asylum you have much more time to get adjusted to that stuff. Origins more ore less throws it at you instantly, because the creators had to consider people playing it that knew Asylum and City in and out.
Knight even more so, so the lerning curve in the later games is definitely much higher. Of course all that was no problem for you, playing "correct" order! ;) So it's easy to dismiss it as irrelevant.
Also again with all repsect - but I've seen you still haven't completed any of the Dark Knight tracks. So you can't even have access to all the gadgets available in Origins. That means there are areas in the game, where you're just beginning to scrath the surface. I really don't want to rubb it in, but maybe try to complete these, and then we can discuss about complexity and learning curve in Origins compared to Asylum. OK? ;)
