Arkham Shadow is amazing!
I’m about 37% through the story and I’m loving every minute of it. It really is a full AAA Arkham experience. Mind blowing.🤯

...and they could probably make AAA bucks - if they had not decided to release this for niche hardware only. The ways of the video games business sometimes are strange. Sometimes it seems like they just don't want to make any money. SSKTJL was the wrong game on the right hardware. This may be the right game on the wrong hardware.
I wish it wasn’t a Vr only game. It does look good.

I wonder if it will eventually come to other VR headsets?🤔

VR is what makes the game special though. You don’t play as Batman, you ARE Batman.

I’m only bummed about it because I can’t use VR. VR gives me severe head aches, dizziness, and nausea. If I use it too long I might vomit. I know it doesn’t affect many people this way, but it sadly affects me :(

Sorry to hear that.😔 My friend has the same issue and can’t play the game either and it’s depressed him.

At least we have the original four Arkham games to play.

To be honest I am also sceptical about VR. I am generally not very fond of 1st person games, because for me movement there feels more clunky and less natural than 3rd person. Seeing the guy from behind for me works better than those up- and down-bopping steps or slightly detached arms and hands in front of me. Not sure VR makes this even more - literally - in your face.
It's a bit like 3D Cinema. Whenever it is obvious, it is rather distracting. And when it is not obvious, then what's the point?

Question however about the game: how long/complex is it? We had this other Arkham VR game, that was more like a demo of maybe half an hour max. Is this a "proper" game comparamble to the other Arkhams? Does it last ten hours?

I’m currently 41% through the story. I’ve been playing for 11 hrs.
It’s a full AAA game experience like Half-Life Alyx. Everything you do in a mainline Arkham game you do here such as experiencing a complete meaty storyline, puzzles/collectibles, tech and suit upgrades, predator challenge rooms and combat challenges.

I haven’t touched the challenges yet, not sure if I will. I really just tend to enjoy the storylines in the Arkham games.

Playing games like Half-Life and Batman in VR just makes the games so much more immersive. When I first loaded the game and I stood outside at night, watching the clouds slowly roll past overhead and I saw the buildings of Gotham tower up around me I was absolutely blown away.
I haven’t felt like this since I made the jump for 2D (Super Nintendo) to 3D (PS1) as a kid. It’s a monumental shift in gaming. It’s just a shame that entry level is so high for people.
VR is still in its infancy, like 3D was with the PS1.

I hope they'll release it on PC(SteamVR). Locking it to only one headset platform is a bad move.

Depends, from player perspective it may be bad - but it seems like this game is paid, at least in part, by Google/Facebook money to promote their hardware. So this game does not need to be totally profitable on it's own, but is rather part of the marketing budget for the headset.
Might work, if enough people fall for it. And releasing a proper Arkham game sure is not the worst idea to sell hardware.
But if it flops it's talent wasted - and I have my doubts this game will be (still even possible to be) played in the same way in 15 or so years as the other "classic" Arkhams are played today. If the hardware is discontinued and broken, the game is dead. Pity! :(

Btw. thanks for the update regarding complexity! :)

I checked my achievements for the game. The one that has the highest player unlock in my list occurs right at the beginning of the story and is one i would think is pretty much unmissable. It’s for discovering one of many collectibles and just over 300K people have earned it.
Gives us an indication of the sales numbers.
The earliest unmissable story based achievement is just over 90K.

Not like many of us will ever know, anyway, unless/until they stop being platform exclusive.

Its ridiculous to assume Im gonna be buying your 500$ VR headset to do what, play one game?
