Arkham Knight - Won't Even Launch
Any ideas? I'm running a 970, Windows 7 64bit. When I click play, the Steam overlay saying Launching Game pops up for a second, then disappears. Nothing happens then. I've tried deleting local cotent and redownloading, but the same issue persists.

This is before I even get into the game. There's been no .ini changes as of yet, and no error message pops up either.

Having the same issue, I'm not sure what it could be. Last time I had an issue similar to this was with fallout 3 and it was because the game didn't properly download a visual c++ redistributable package required for it to run.

I'm fully up to date with visual c++ and DX11. Very, very frustrating. I've downloaded the game 3 times now. It has never looked to download additional packages itself, like some other games do.

Got a 970 also, and same thing, attempts boot, game minimises to background, attempting to go back into game causes large choppyness, however if you alt tab onto say task manager the game is fine in the background.

I agree with deimos, watching the VC installation it appeared to miss a step

I got mine to launch.

Go to Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Knight\_CommonRedist\vcredist\

Install both 2010 and 2012 manually and then launch the game. Apparently I was missing 2010 x64.

Same for me.

I can't refund the game sadly because I pre-orded a Steam key very cheap from a different website so I could get the Harley DLC and the worst part isn't that my game won't even run it's that I didn't even get the promised Harley DLC. Though the website is trying to get it for me so that's good of them.

I can't believe I broke my no pre-order rule for this, I dodged a bullet with that pile of trash called Mortal Kombat X but instead jumped right into the shotgun blast that was Arkham Knight, well at least I'll never break my rule again now that I've had this reminder, they better fix this damn game soon.

Deimos, thanks for that tip. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. I wasn't missing either of them. Both prompted me to repair or uninstall. I tried a repair and when that didn't work, I uninstalled and set up again. Both resulted in the same error.

Just wanted to post here because I had the exact same problem as OP and have the exact same rig, my fix ended up being rather weird, Basically what I did is forced the game to start on windowed mode, which magicaly fixed everything for some reason to do this:
-Go to Steam
-Libraby
-Right click the game
-Properties
-Startup Options
-Paste: "-windowed"

This fixed my issue magicaly, you can also tweak alot more heres the steam page with more info: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1040-JWMT-2947

kikoafu4, thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, that didn't have an effect for me.

Np Sorry to hear that, This is by far one of my worse expiriences with a game :/

Same as. I got it free with an Nvidia card so I don't have a leg to stand on in terms of a refund! I seem to have no luck. The two games I was looking forward to the most over the past 12 months were this one and Assassins Creed Unity. What choices! :D

Same issue, only I'm using a 7850 (I know, very under spec) I've tried the following with no change in behavior:

-Disabling/unplugging second monitor
-Disabling wireless controller
-Removing wireless dongle.
-Opting out of the Steam Beta client.
-Fresh driver install of AMD's latest beta drivers and latest PhysX

Build is FX-8320 @ 3.5ghz
Radeon HD 7850
16GB RAM

Hope this helps hash out a cause.

Thanks for the input.

I don't have a second monitor.
I'm using a wired Xbox 360 controller
My wireless is internal to the PC
I have also opted out
I am using the latest Batman ready nVidia drivers

I went to the steam folder and executed the file 'run as administrator' and it fired right up... Maybe that will help someone...

D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Knight\Binaries\Win64\batmanAK.exe

Same here. 970, Windows 7 64-bit. It worked fine for me at launch, I've almost beat the game and now it suddenly won't even launch the game.

It tries to boot and then crashes, no error code, no log, nothing.
