3.6GB of my GTX 970 VRAM and 9GB of my 16 GB DDR3 RAM
GTX970, 8GB RAM, Win 8.1
The game only uses 4-5GB of my actual ram regardless of the it being set to automatic/custom but it wants to chew up atleast 6GB more from my virtual memory.
Even though Rocksteady just said on their recent PSA not to change page file unfortunately thats the only way I can play it otherwise it just crashes.
I have the reccommended/ultra set up so, da f**k!
Sapphire R9 290 (OC), 8GB RAM, FX-8350 4.0Ghz.....
When it was set to system managed the pagefile usage went up to 16GB on top of the full 8GB RAM also being used.
GTX 970
I5 3450
8GB RAM
Win7
Also, if I want to restore the virtual memory setting to default, Do I just check the "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" check box once again to go back default ?
Thanks !
Can i clarify that you put both the initial size and maximum size as 4gb?
Also if any AMD users have confirmed this to work for them - can they confirm the AMD driver version they are also using?
Waste of time playing it at least prior to the august patch.
The new version has much better effects, more detail and faster FPS.
I'd trust Nvidia on this seeing they are working on every facet of the game to ensure it is fixed properly. They said it will benefit non Nvidia users too.
Also heatl0rd I set both the inital and max to 4gb on each of my drive to ensure it uses the vram.
This has worked on all the drivers for me so far from Omega to 15.7.1
Thug, yeah to return your page to normal just use the "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" check box
That would certainly be the case if you did not have sufficient page file space allocated to accomodate the demand, but there's no need to make huge page files on every drive. Just one reasonably sized one on the same drive as your OS will be sufficient.
That said, getting more physical RAM would be a better solution, though there's really no good reason to not have at least some kind of page file allocated regardless of how much physical RAM you have installed.
doesn't really matter unless you simply want it to be a fixed size. the most important thing is that the max be at least 1.5X max commit charge level.
Also my paging file was originally set to automatic prior plus as Warner Bro stated to keep it on automatic on their forum update :/ This caused the game to crash due to mem leaks.
So its either not play the game or not follow false instructions.
In the end I should have no reason to fiddle with the paging file in the first place.
it's not "false advertising", people need to stop saying that. Also, we don't know if there is a memory leak or if there is, if that is the cause of your problem. That's just not something anyone can diagnose through forums.
That said, there is a general consensus that the game may be using more memory than some feel it should. There could be other reasons for the behaviour too which may or may not be the game's own fault. the game itself is not the only place a leak can exhibit (Windows 8 WDM has a known leak condition which tends to manifest when running games). Maybe you simply have too much other crap running which leaves not enough resources free too.
System managed is typically fine. It allows Windows to grow and shrink the page file as necessary, which avoids issues with it simply running out of space when you have a fixed pf which is too small or no page file. I see absolutely no reason why leaving it on auto would cause the game to crash much less cause a memory leak. That's just not how leaks work.
Tell that to the massive amounts of internet lemmings who insist on shutting it off because they think they are smarter than Windows development Engineers.
There's nothing wrong or abnormal with changing page file settings as is suitable for each users preference and system needs. that's why it's readily tunable.
Well I can say my PC is pretty much only for gaming so I only have MSI Afterburner, Steam and AMD Gaming running in the background. I don't have anything but those as start up and really like keeping my rig clean software wise.
I honestly never touch the paging file and only saw a prior fix for another Arkham game and it solved my problem for this situation. As of now I've updated to Win10 and reverted my pagefile but I am waiting for the interim patch before I attempt to play it again.
I'm no expert just wanted to get past the police cutscene when this game released and after the 5th time and I found this method didn't give me any out of memory errors and thought I should share my result.
Why would you trust Nvidia when they're the ones who put out a "1080p 60fps" gameworks video for PC footage, which turned out to be PS4 footage?
