Most of Gotham Inaccessible
I'm enjoying the game thus far so don't take this the wrong way. Now that I've said that I need to comment on the fact that most of Gotham is innaccessible, with the large portion of the city with the highrise buildings being outside of the playable area. I was under the impression that the game was going to feature all of Gotham or am I missing something? Thus far the map seems pretty meager with it seeming no larger than Arkham City or Origins. Did I missunderstand something or was the game actually always advertised as featuring the whole of Gotham?

I'm pretty sure you unlock more as the game progresses

Now that people have started getting to the end of the game. Is it true that the majority of the city, as seen in the distance on the shore, becomes accessible at some point?

Doubt it, it is pretty much the same area since Arkham City, Origins was a little larger, and what I saw from gameplay videos, it's pretty much the same as Akrham City.

The distance? as in Wayne Manor-distance away? then no, that's all background nonsense.
Open up the map and what you see is what you get.

the new section of gotham has highrise buildings? You have to remember that this game is dense in detail, it may not be a massive city compared to other open world games but it has a lot of detail

No, the game area is what you see on the map. However, you can readily see both Arkham Citry (which appears to be complete, but is nto accessible) in the distance as well as Arkham Asylum too.

That's pretty disappointing and makes no real story sense. You'd think Scarecrow would focus his attack on the majorty of the city, rather than three or four small islets.

And if you look to the far side of Arkham City, you can see the parts where Arkham Origins took place.

You only have access to the 3 areas you see with the bridges. The areas unlock as you progress the main story line.

Think of the part Scarecrow has taken over kinda like Manhattan. NYC is a lot bigger than Manhattan, but Manhattan is significant.

It's still three times the size of Arkham City, but you're right about it not being the whole of Gotham. It's these three islands that are affected by the militia though, and where Batman will stay.

How long after Arkham City is this game set. If it's quite recent, then most of the Arkham City area would still be flooded.
I am, however, disapointed that we can't re-visit some of the sites and would have loved to return to Arkham Asylum. Maybe in a DLC.....

...9 months. It says in the beginning. It HAS however been at least 10 years since Arkham Origins. Possibly 15. It's hard to tell precisely but it's somewhere between 10 and 15. You can tell by the aging up of Barbara, Bruce, and Jim.

I forgot about Commissioner Gordons opening monologue. Thanks Saerydoth. So Arkham City area would still be mostly underwater and seriously damaged then.
