Do not verify integrity of game cache
I figured I might as well try verifying the files, what happened next was it decided to redownload the whole game.
Nothing wrong with my SSDs.

So.. I'm just confused right now. If you want to play the game, don't verify your files.

Guess preloading the game was a waste of time. :P

It seems like preloading is still an issue for Steam. Same thing happened to me with other games in the past as well. After uninstalling those games and re-downloading them after they got unlocked, everything worked fine. I'm just going to try again tomorrow and re-download Arkham Knight.

Just did the same, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pissed.

I always verify the game files on launch, especially after a midnight release and decrypting - just to be sure.

Boom, re-downloaded 33gb - just sat down to play tonight, pissed off.

For those of you who have been affected by this, you can find your lost files in the downloading folder in SteamApps!

You can't recover them. You just have to let it download again.

Basically, the function is borked on this game.

DON'T TRY TO DO IT AGAIN!

You'll have to download it again, I just tried, the downloading again was not a process the game had to go through after launch as I had hoped.

this is the part where i would tell rocksteady to go F themselves but i expected this type of buffoonery on game launch. i guess it's worth downloading again for the sake of batman.

Wish I saw this post earlier, I was crashing at start-up anyways so I guess I wouldn't be playing anyways. Still sucks to DL another 34GB for what will likely be the same result.

yes. 2 hours and 36 minutes of snoozefest here.

tried to get the HQ dlc workin-verified-bump. have to wait another 3 hours again. what a waste :( games was workin fine for me for 2hours though. same thing happened to me with warframe. steam really should get their ♥♥♥♥ togehter.
imagine we all would still have to pay for each download. we would be broke.

Did you guys get the fatal error? That is why I decided to verify and now ...

The game was running so well until then.
