Is it even possible to transfer preloads to a different hard drive and Steam recognizes the preload?

I guess it is. I'm already installing the game on the desktop, so when I copy the files from the laptop I'll put them where the game is being installed on the desk.

I would wait until it releases, unpack the preload and then transfer to avoid issues. Chances are Steam won't recognize the preload files as it does pre-existing files for a regular install.

Anyway, I'll post the results here when It's done. 91% - Copying files from the laptop to my external hard drive.

If Steam recognizes that the preload is done after I transfer the files to the desktop, I guess it's fine.

Make sure to restart steam and then re-hit preload to see what happens.
