Where the heck is the state national guard or even U.S. military in all of this?

Do they just never get deployed at all to Gotham because Gordon believes his PD and Batman can save the city or do they get deployed later on in the game once that private army comes in?

This is happening overnight. By the time national guard arrives, it will be all over.

it took a day to evacuate all of Gotham. National Guard can easily deploy in less that time and we don't know what the in game length is this time around.

Maybe the guard helped to evac the city they may have pulled out seeing as they are facing the Arkham knights army and scarecrows fear gas. Its also possabile that scarecrow threatend to realse the gas instantly if they tried to help.

As for the military dont know same deal i guess although they would no doubt have the hardware to confront arkham knights forces so maybe its more down to scarecrow that they dont help.

Being serious though if gothem was a real place it would pretty much be in a permeant state of martial law with every single officer being a member of swat with the gear to match.

We havent played the game though maybe they do show up or they explain why they dont help.

There will certainly be an ad hoc BS 'explanation', as to why the army has to stay away -- as in Bane's lockdown in 'The Dark Knight Rises'.

The 'private army' business certainly is looking a bit ridiculous, frankly.

This all takes place in one night. Gotham is in New Jersey(I think so)?

It will take a while for the national guard to mobilize and be armed enough to fight against a bunch of supernatural supervillians and an army itself.

I think the supernatural villians is reason enough for the US military or guard to want to stay the ♥♥♥♥ away, or just call Superman or Captain Atom.

Point is, US forces cannot do anything to Gotham supervillians.

Actually, I feel the US would be worried about Scarecrow's plans to release his fear toxin through the world.

Even beyond the marines or the navy seals its quite possible that batman is the only one with a strong enough mind to indure scarecrows fear gas meaning that the US cant do anything because even their best are broken by the gas in minitues if not seconds.

If you recall asylum batman to quote scarecrow himself ingested enough toxins to drive 10 men insane and seemed unaffected by it after the fact.
