Riddler grind-fest is hot garbage

In Arkham Asylum and City the riddles and trophies were available if you wanted to go through the effort of collecting them (for whatever reason), but at least they weren't required to complete the game with the best ending.

In Arkham Knight their existence seems designed purely to pad out the game for hour after pointless hour as you travel from one end of the map to coordinates on the other end, so you can race all the way back and miss the trophy by 00:00:01 because the grappling hook decided to attach to a building behind Batman instead of what you were aiming at. Then you get to do it all over again. And again, and again, and again.

The worst part about it (outside its general existence) is that once you get to the end-game, the enemies don't give you experience anymore, so you can't even grind your way to an extra upgrade or two during your miserable slog to fight the Riddler.

Arkham City was worse

having to switch to Catwoman to go into areas to collect trophies just for her was a mess wasn't needed

not to mention the 400 plus riddler related things to do

I had forgotten that there were 440 trophies in Arkham City, which is insane. At least they weren't required to get the best ending (although the fact that you basically get nothing aside from an achievement is pretty crap as well).

I keep telling myself that I will play other games while I wait for the fix to do the trophies, but the lack of completion keeps haunting me, and I do more riddles lol. Exactly 90 riddles left.

I think he just meant the fix for the game to run better not a fix for the actual trophies :)

Agreed. The epitome of pointles busy work, and the trophies aren't even riddles. They are puzzles. Riddler doesn't actually do anything directly riddle-based. All of his actual riddles have nothing to do with the story. It's all puzzles.

and ♥♥♥♥ Rocksteady for being stupid enough to have the Riddler building race tracks under ground. Nevermind that Nigma is an intellectual, suddenly he's big into Nascar. It's like Eddy has a copy of the script and knew Batman would be showing off his new car like Super Sweet 16 all night.

Just finished those ♥♥♥♥♥♥ riddles yesterday. Some of the riddles bugged and i was too lazy find some of them myself (80% i got myself rest with walktrough, videos).

Loved riddler and trophies in Arkham Asylum. The riddles were actually good and challenging.

Hated riddler in Arkham City. Just too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ many trophies and riddles to find. The whole city was half green from all those. I never even bothered to collect them all.

In arkham knight, I want to kill riddler for good in and throw his corpse to lions. Just because i have to use that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ batmobile in them. And the riddles/puzzles are not even that hard
to solve anymore.

I loved those deciphered messages in AA and AC which you could listen.

It's pretty common to have different endings for 100% a game. Either do it or don't do it. No one is forcing you, and if you're really that desperate to see the ending just Youtube it.

I think we got this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ because so few people gave them feedback on how stupid this system is. I'm playing as one of the greatest superheroes of all time and I'm running around a city playing games with the Riddler? Right. At least there was some story in Arkham City where you're rescuing the hostages but it shouldn't have required this absurd amount of running around like an idiot which is exactly what I'd said.

I just broke the 100 mark last night. I've been chipping away at them with 30min play sessions because it's actively making me hate the game.

Hahahah, right on. Riddler has basically turned into Jigsaw (from any Saw movie besides the first one), except instead of elaborate deathtraps he just builds racetracks and glorified riddle-themed Plinko machines all over the city.

Well, "hot garbage" is a bit too much, imho, but, I agree, if you've saved most of the riddles and trophies for last it will be very tedious to do....

I hear you, mate. Whenever I'm a little bored I start the game and do some Riddler tasks until I get bored of that as well...

I just collected everything I saw as I progressed through the game. I didn't have much to clean up after I got near the end of the game and had done all of the other MW missions. It didn't seem all that hard or time consuming. I've collected every trophy and datapack in the series, and it never felt like a huge inconvenience.

Actually that felt good for a change, playing as a character other than batman within the same open world. and it's not integral to the game.

First time I played the game on console but didn't have the code and didn't get to play as catwoman and still didn't feel like a missed anything.

if anything, I find this to be better than the mess that is the Harley Quinn DLC that was supposed to be a pre-order incentive. the worst DLC by so far. shame they don't allow the use of other characters within gotham in arkham Knight (except for mods that is)
