There was an arena combat while saving a firefighter when I accidentally hit L1 and it called the batmobile. It knocked out everyone on there and ended the fight easily. ugh.
YES! That stupid rubberband A.I. all but ruined that fight (it had help from the camera and awful handling.)
Stop breathing.
No kidding. Same with Man Bat. I love how Batman is too stupid to to stop either from getting away the same exact way over and over. then again, Arkham Batman is too dumb to develop an antidote for Scarecrow's gas by now.
Driving from point A to point B kind of things or chasing down APCs were okay I suppose (even if I don't like it), but Riddler racing challenges and that Excavator encounter is frustrating. Both have very little room for error, and the solutions are very limited (if not, only 1 solution).
For instance, for the Riddler racing challenges, you need to:
- make a turn/drift at a certain time
- switch the obstacles/traps at the right time
Or you will get crushed, slam into something, or fall off the water. Also, the driving part isn't very riddle-y - isn't that his gimmick? The Excavator encounter uses some of the same things, like turning/drifting at the right time. But instead of worrying about the clock, you have to worry about not getting ass-drilled. You have to play almost flawlessly or get one-shotted, which is worse than the Riddler racing challenges. At least with the Riddler challenge, you can ♥♥♥♥ up once or twice and still make it in time - you ♥♥♥♥ up once in the Excavator encounter, you die. To make it more difficult, the camera zooms out, making the Batmobile and the course smaller - it's some kind of artificial difficulty increase of some kind. Why do that, when ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up means the Batmobile gets a gaping Bathole in its Bathind anyways? AK's trashtalking also gets old after over 10 deaths - yeah, I died a lot.
I finally completed the entire regular game and I am now working on completing new game plus, but now I have to do the Excavator encounter all over again. I don't have the courage and/or the patience to do it once again, so I'm probably going to leave it unfinished - that's how my Batman new game plus experience died. The 200% (100% for the regular game and new game plus) doesn't really add anything to the story anymore, I think. I already accomplished the 100% Knightfall Protocol ending in the regular game, and I didn't complete all the AR challenges (skipped the Riddler ones) and the Cobra tank battles as I've maxed out all the upgrades. I also don't care much about Steam achievements.
I'm just going to wait for the Season Pass or DLCs to come out, as I didn't pick up the SP when it was available before WB stopped the sale of the game and the SP.
Playing Asylum again now, great effing game, no car needed.
I'm thinking more and more about skipping AK, and just sticking with AA, AC and AO (the first two I completed on the Xbox 360 but plan to play again on the PC, and I've just finished AO)
I think it has more to do that this was a first Rocksteady made Arkham game that added some actual puzzles to the main story and they often involve using Batmobile.
Game makes it quite clear that Batman traversing with upgrades is faster than using Batmobile. In fact some of the riddler challenges can be completed faster by using Batman instead of the car (city racing that awards you collectibles.)
Plus, if this was the first Arkham game, people wouldn't complain that much as they would have no expectations to only use Batman. People get attached to formula since Asylum and this game dared drastically change it. In fact, it might have been expectation to have it in the sequels too.
Plus Batman has a long time utilized Batmobile extensively to get around in the city. Also in many fictional works, Batman also uses weaponized vehicles but they are designed not to kill.
