In terms of a timeline the game series is in this order: Origins, Asylum, City, and Knight. There's something like 5 years between Origins and Asylum, 1 year between Asylum and City, and 1 year between City and Knight.
♥♥♥♥ Grayson and Jason Todd both serve their time as Robin sometime between the end of Origins and the beginning of Asylum. I can't recall off the top of my head if Robin is referenced to in Asylum but by City we see that the current Robin is Tim Drake.
As for what happened to Jason Todd...it depends on your source material.
In the comics and Under the Red Hood animated film the early events more-or-less remain the same as in Knight - i.e. Todd has some serious issues with Batman refusing to kill the Joker and thus decides to persue him on his own (in the original comic he actually tracks the Joker to Ethiopia). This doesn't work out too well for Todd as he gets himself captured, tortured, and killed by the Joker.
Hoping to get on Batman's good side (so he marries his daughter, gives him a son/heir, and joins the League of Assassins/Shadows), Ra's and Talia al Ghul get a hold of Todd's body and attempt to revive him - first by magic then by using the Lazarus Pit. It works but Todd's mind is all kinds of messed up from the trauma of dying and from beind dead. He escapes and spends the next year or so traveling the world, training, and preparing to get his revenge on the Joker. He eventually comes back to Gotham, as the Red Hood, and tries to kill the Joker but is stopped by Batman. From that point forward Red Hood serves as a kind of anti-hero (like The Punisher or Deadpool) who fights criminals but isn't worried about whether or not he kills people.
In Knight it's different though.
The Joker still captures Todd but he makes Batman believe he kills him. In reality though, the Joker has him locked up in an abandoned wing of Arkham Asylum and proceeds to further torture him for about a year - warping his mind and making him believe that Batman just simply didn't care about him, abandoned him, and quickly replaced him with Tim Drake (Todd doesn't know that Batman thinks he's dead).
...I'm not sure if you've completed the game so if you've just reached the part with the flashbacks stop reading now...
Todd eventually either escapes or is set free by the Joker and, much like his comic counter-part, spends some time traveling, training, and preparing to get his revenge (but on Batman). At some point he dons the disguise of the Arkham Knight, creates his own merc army, and then comes back to Gotham where he approaches Scarecrow and they devise the plan we see play out in the game. In the end, Batman convinces him to abandon his quest for revenge against him and Todd then turns into the Red Hood.
All-in-all Rocksteady's version isn't bad but they do leave some questions out there...like when exactly Joker captures and tortures Todd over the course of a year in Arkham Asylum. The Asylum doesn't close down until after the events of the first game and a year passes between Asylum and City but the Joker is all kinds of messed up from the Titan formula and presumably locked up until he was dumped in Arkham City...so...when does this happen exactly? Was the asylum closed for a time BEFORE the events of Arkham Asylum and then re-opened?
This was in the comics.
Anyway, in one of the challenge maps in Arkham City I think, there is a wink toward Jason, because if you do it as Robin, Joker says something like "Didn't I kill you already?" Jason himself is not mentioned, but those familiar with the comics would know that he was referring to the previous Robin.
So there were hints about Jason, but he wasn't ever mentioned by name until AK.
So basicaly the fans wanted him to be replaced by another Robin ?.
Seems Joker told the truth in some way here, noone wanted to find him.
No, no, there's a lot of confusion about the Arkham series chronology and gaps of time between each installment so
http://steamcommunity.com/app/208650/discussions/0/530649887217153658/
you'll find an accurate representation of the timeline on this link which I made with the help of every Arkham media I have at hand,
I started to put the arkham series chronology a month ago or so with the help of every canon publications I had at hand:
4 games (AO, AA AC AK) comics (arkham origins prequel comic, road to arkham, the first three volumes of Arkham Unhinged, Arkham City Prequel comic(with the digital chapters) Arkham Endgame ) and Assault on arkham the movie
I have yet to do the research with the upcoming AK dlcs and the upcoming Arkham Underworld, the AK comics (issue #0-6) Arkham Knight Genesis, arkham Knight Batgirl, the novelization of Arkham Knight and the novel Arkham Riddler's gambit
I feel for myself that it's tiring to hear that the gap between's AA and AC is 6 months or 1 year, it's not
there's evidence which I put in the link but I'm going to reiterate here
Arkham asylum / Arkham riots happen
6 months after that recently elected mayor sharp declares martial law in gotham following the attack of the trask siblings which serves as an excuse for the creation of arkham city, joker is escorted by Harley to the new condemned zone Old Gotham/North gotham which is where Arkham city is set
one arkham city story which can be read in Arkham city the game's database which says strange and sharp had officially opened the site after 18months since the riots, the date of the opening of arkham city is a november 19th of some year
strange kept his involvement a secret up until that 19th of november
how do I know it's november 19th that AC opened ? because it's written embedded in some plaque near the processing center of arkham city which you have to scan to answer a riddle.
this previous story I got from arkham city the prequel comics
then in arkham unhinged, Black mask's escape is expanded further in comic form, and in the game (ACity) you see posters near the place where he escaped that he escaped on December 13th, (the arkham unhinged comic's issue telling this story is named Eviction notice I believe)
On february 15th the events of the game Arkham City happens, how do I know ? it's the date appearing on a wall in two-face's vault in the game in catwoman's first section.
the halloween of that same year the events of Arkham Knight happen
9 months as Jim Gordon says bluntly at the beginning of the game have passed when he began his speech,
a speech which he does when he goes to tim and Barbara's wedding
and yes a robin is referenced in Arkham Asylum the game Joker taunts batman telling him he could have harley since he could use a new sidekick
Well, all in all Rocksteady just retold a lot of the best stories in their own way.
I don't think you're correct about it being 18 months between Asylum and City.
The Arkham City comic-book picks up 6 months after the events in Asylum and it ends with Strange fully aware of Batman's identity, and Bruce Wayne begins his campaign against the maltreatment of inmates. It makes little sense as to why Strange would wait another 12 months to grab Wayne and throw him in Arkham City (or why Batman would wait that long to get further involved). Also, I doubt the Joker would've lasted a year and half with his sickness...
The strategy guide for AC also says at the very beginning that "one year has passed".
I think the 18 months thing may have been a reference to when Sharp and Hugo concieved the idea of Arkham City. As we know, from the secret room in Arkham Asylum, the idea/concept and initial plans for Arkham City were already established before Joker's riot (and Joker's riot was a part of the plan to build it).
And yes, Gordon does mention it's been 9 months since Joker's death. HOWEVER that shoots a hole in your theory that the events of Arkham City happen in February...Knight happens on October 31st. Rewind 9 months and that's January (which also makes more sense since AC happens during winter and since Gotham is the DC version of NYC, generally speaking for most years snow lets up here in the Northeast US by late January/early February).
nope, Arkham city picks up 18months after AA + the time between november 19th and february 15th. On november 19th Sharp introduces Hugo to public life and cats two-face and batman still run free, so things happen black mask escapes on december 13th then february 15th bruce gets abducted
furthermore
Arkham city story:
Open For Business, Riddle : Bowery, "Was the writing on the wall from the moment you entered ?"
Mayor Quincy Sharp looked proud as he addressed Gotham on the night that Arkham City officially opened for business. As he introduced Hugo Strange to the mass of journalists, he felt sure that the hard work and sacrifices had been worth it.
He could hardly believe that he had achieved so much in the 18 months since the events on Arkham Island. As the champagne bottle smashed against the wall, Strange whispered to him that he would soon have Catwoman and Two-Face arrested and brought to his prison.
Quincy smiled. With Arkham City's construction complete, he was guaranteed the approval of the city and with all the super villains in his custody, their next target would be Batman: the person he blamed for everything.
I dont remember if its in the AC prequel comic or the Joker's audio logs but a doctor told him the cures he was provided multiple times had worked for a while but its efficiency dissipated as time went on. Joker is extremely physically resilient considering he cant take a lot of punches, he has lot of stamina despite being bone skinny near anorexia...
Strange abducted like 6 or 9+ doctors for Joker according to the audio tapes and the comic.
however joker planned not to survive the disease / take the cure, since he had his plan in Batman arkham endgame
The disease he has is slowly slowly killing joker and it kills him on february 15th
Arkham city story: A sick plan
After Batman stopped him from escaping Arkham Asylum, the Joker sat alone in his padded cell, knowing something was wrong.
The first sign was an unusual, lump on his shoulder. He felt... tainted. Weeks went by and ten more unusual lumps appeared.
The TITAN had done something to him, something bad, something that wasn't funny at all.
Riddle: Steel Mill, “Do you really need to hammer it home? Everyone knows Harley is stupid.”
(it's fun to argue over facts about fiction always loved it)
there's a hell lot of information and detail about the arkham series Im convinced AA and AC have a 18months-2 year gap
Or, "Rewind" 18 Months and you're at February of the previous year....:-)
