POTENTIAL fix/workaround for constant crashes!
TL;DR: If you have constant crashes at a specific section of the game, set the game at the lowest resolution (680x400), play through the section/cinematic where it crashed before, and once you are through, put it back at the resolution you play at!

(Story time)

Hey guys,

I may have have found a fix/workaround for the constant crashes some of you guys (and myself) might have. Before starting, here are my specs:

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @ 3.6GHz OC
XFX Radeon R9 285 @ 918MHz with 2GB of VRAM
Catalyst 15.6 Beta
8 GB RAM
Windows 8.1
Game is installed on SSD
Running at 1440x900 (my screen is a 1680x1050, but there's an issue for that resolution with Catalyst 15.6)

As you can see, my GPU doesn't meet the minimum requirement of 3GB VRAM minimum.

Since the release, my game could not get past the Joker's cremation cinematic right at the beginning, it crashed every time I pressed the mouse button to burn him to ashes. No matter what I did, low or high textures/details, it crashed. It crashed at the exact moment when there is a lot of fire on screen, which got me thinking it may be caused by tessellation or something.

So for testing, I installed the game on my 4 years old laptop, which has a quad-core A6 APU @ 2.3 GHz when turbo-ing with a AMD Radeon HD 6520G dedicated GPU. Bear in mind that this is WAY BELOW minimum requirements... but guess what? The game got through! It passed the cinematic without crashing!... going at 5FPS nonetheless, but still!

SO it HAD to be a GPU problem, the R9 285, which is also having issues with The Witcher 3 apparently (seen on their forums). I was accusing the new tessellation architecture GCN 1.2.

BUT THEN, it dawn on me: if the tessellation makes my game crash, what if I set the game at a lower resolution so it has LESS triangles to compute for the tessellation... and guess what? THAT WORKED FLAWLESSLY. Setting my game to the lowest resolution available got me through the section it crashed and I could finally play the game (although still having the stuttering everyone has). After having gone through, I resetted my game to the 1440x900 resolution and continued playing.

When I reached the point where Batman gets his new Batsuit, it crashed again, so I put the game back at 680x400, got through it and put the game back at 1440x900.

Problem ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ solved!

I have a great fix:

STEP 1: Uninstall the Game

STEP 2: Wait a couple of months for several patches to be released

STEP 3: Install the Game again

STEP 4: Enjoy! (hopefully)

=========================================================

Seriously: There is no point in trying to fix this flawed game on your own. Stop wasting your time and let WB/Rocksteady take care of it. I know it sucks, but it's the only way to go right now.
