Download file is only 260mb, and nothing is in the game folder.

Hi guys,

I am a long time steam user, never had a problem with installing games before. However, I recently bought Arkham Knight, and began the installation process. The download file was only 260mb, which struck me as odd, but i proceeded anyways. After to download had finished, i clicked play, and an error popped up, Failed to start game (missing executable). Now, I know a little about computers, and after searching the forums, I discovered about verifying the games files on steam, which I did, attempted to launch the game, nothing.

Now, being inquisitive, I went into my computer, and to steamapps. I looked at Batman Arkham knight, and there are simply no files in there, except a file called _commonRedist , which contains direct x etc.

I have contacted steam support, but they have taken 3 days now, and I want to play Batman (regardless of the negative opinions of the PC version)

Can someone help me out?

The game has been retired from purchasing. I don't think you'll be able to reach the servers or to get the game if they also decided to remove the download files from the first old version. I suggest you wait for Steam answer though.

But i purchased it before they retired the game from purchase, surely i should be entitled to the game :(

This game requires 64 bit Windows to play or even download. You are likely on 32 bit Windows.

if all else fails there's a copy of the game floating around that hasn't been cracked. It's going to be the same files that you'd get from downloading directly from Steam. You could try getting that, dropping it in your Arkham Knight folder in Steam and trying again. I think you'd have to delete whatever you have installed now, put the files in the right spot and hit install game. It'll check the files then and should do it properly

In my SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Knight the game size is 36.3GB.

Yeah exactly, the download itself came up as 260mb, Theres nothing I can do to change that, that is what steam wants me to download !

That is all that will dl on a 32 bit OS. You can not download the rest or play the game on 32 bit Windows. There is no workaround that I am aware of.

look into buying a console if you cant even read basic requirements.

it is beyond ridiculous to be using a 32 bit OS at this point and there is probably no chance your hardware is even close to capable enough for this game.

But in response, I have an xbox one that i play more regularly than I do my PC, but I play games such as Football Manager, League of Legends, Smite , Fallout on PC, so i assumed it was fine to play , I never assumed my OS was obsolete, so thanks for the response, but you should work on your tone, You came across as condescending and patronising -

because you just bought a modern demanding game without even looking at the requirements. 64 bit has been the norm for 6 or 7 years now for any decent pc. that is why I said you probably dont have hardware worth a crap either if you are still on a 32 bit OS.

of course you still have not bothered to list anything about your pc. heck you never even said what your current 32 bit OS even was.

so list your OS and list your specs and then you can get some helpful replies on what your next step should be if you want to play demanding modern games.

Because there simply is no point if I can not run the game right now, I will look into improving my computer to match the standards required, and I will be more careful when it comes to which games I purchase - As i say I have never had trouble running any game i have bought and played on here before, you should chill out, I have never met a helpful aggressive person before...
