If game doesn't start, try this
I had this problem where the game wouldn't even launch. BatmanAK.exe would show up on Task Manager for a few seconds and then close. No error message, no crash report, nothing. I verified game files and steam re-downloaded the entire thing. No change. I then updated NVIDIA Drivers. Still nothing.

Then I remembered some people having trouble running the game fullscreen, so I tried forcing windowed mode and it finally worked!

Go to Steam's Library -> right click on Batman: Arkham Knight -> Properties -> General -> in launch options write in -windowed -> close the properties window. Click on the Play button and see if it works now.

It will start in windowed mode of course, but you can then Alt+ENTER to fullscreen. After the game runs sucessfully once you can even remove the -windowed and it should launch fine and go straight to fullscreen. I believe it's related to some configuration files being created on first run.

Tried a few different things, including adjusting the "read only" settings. This is the one that worked. Set the game to run in windowed mode. But alt-enter immediately crashed the game. However, once you launch the game in windowed mode, you can go to the display settings and choose to go with a borderless window instead of fullscreen, and... magically you're full screen. Works fine after that.

I've done the same exact thing. I set the game to launch in windowed mode and it still crashes, no result overall. Please help me on this.

I have the same issue. Added -windowed and now I get the result in a window. I also get a few crackles from the sound which I assume is the very beginning of the audio track but it's only a millisecond. I have the exact same issue with Batman Origins which was working for years.
