Batman™: Arkham Knight

Batman™: Arkham Knight

Why are we not getting any points for Nightwing's A+B move?
(shocks all the gentlemen around him)
It's good damn move.

Nightwing would never intentionally electrocute anyone; he subscribes to Batman's no-kill policy.

The move that shocks everybody nearby was never worth any points, even back in Arkham CIty. It doesn't do any actual damage, and those sorts of moves tend not to be worth any points.
Apologies for the poor wording.

Yes, I've noticed that back in Arkham City too, it's just a cool, powerful and shocking move and even Bat Swarm (R.I.P.) worthed lots of points (high multiplier based on number of affected NPCs) even though it didn't do any damage.

This looks like they just forgot to add this in the City and did the same in the Knight for consistency.

Maybe I've missed something, do you know any other sidekicks with such pointless special combo moves?

Actually, Bat Swarm did a very small amount of damage (equivalent to a single punch to each thug, if I remember correctly).

I'm pretty sure the no-damage moves intentionally don't give any points, including Nightwing's Group Electrify. Things like stuns, R.E.C. shots, freeze blasts, weapon steals, blade dodges, the first few hits of a beatdown, and the like can be used indefinitely without running out your "fuel," so they could be used to rack up an arbitrarily high score if they were actually worth points or added to your hit counter. (I realize the Group Electrify is a special move and couldn't be repeated without damaging thugs in between, but I assume they applied the same design to all things that do no damage.)

There's actually something I consider to be a bug in Arkham City because it ignores this idea; Nightwing can throw an escrima stick at a shield-carrying thug and, although it does no damage, it adds to your hit counter (which will multiply the score of your next actual hit). So you can get an "infinite" combo going by repeatedly evading and throwing escrima sticks at a shield guy.

And no, I can't think of any other playable characters with a special move that does no damage (aside from Disarm and Destroy). I suppose Nightwing's Group Electrify is intended to be used for its status effects: making thugs with bats, shields, and stun sticks knock each other around, making lieutenants (and brutes?) knock other thugs around, and, in Arkham City, knocking down armored thugs.
If I remember correctly (at least for the Knight) Nightwing's Group Electrify doesn't even stuns NPCs let alone disorients, it's just clears the space around him, like a crowd control. And the absence of points kinda make sense in the case considering your post above. Thanks, nice mindflow.

Still it's pretty discouraging to build up multiplier just to not to get any points. It's probably catches the eye because of its Specialty and the culmination of the moment, whereas first few hits of a beatdown, stuns or weapon steals feel more like fillers in between.

Bat Swarm is gone too?
R.I.P. Bat Swarm, ledge takedown and Super Batclaw.
They still managed to get the useless asss and boob physics in tho.
Yeah, I've read they've replaced it with weapon pickup/steal. But secretly hope to find it somewhere in the upgarde tree someday.

Right i just didn't even think about it cause i never use it, i prefer the weapon pick up but that doesn't mean others do. (plus we should have everything available to us in a sequal not take away from us)

Just another way consoles holding us back with lack of buttons, they finally add an extra button on PS4 but it for sharing content which they could have just made accessible through the PS button plus most games don't even use the touch pad which could have easily remedied this situation.
(the pressing two buttons at once is just stupid anyway always forget which one is which why they have to make people feel stupid by putting it on screen but it only shows one at a time)
