on initial release it was working well on a AMD FX8350 + nVidia 780Ti, but I upgraded my system to get 2 new systems as listed below and with the new release both new computer won't start the game even after letting Steam verify the installations and also complete remove and new installation
System 1:
- Intel i7 4790
- nVidia 780 Ti
- 16 GB DDR3 1600
- System HDD Samsung 850 Evo 250GB
- Steam HDD WD 4TB 2x as RAID0 on Dawicontrol
- Win10
System 2:
- AMD FX8350
- AMD R9 390
- 16GB DDR3 1600
- System HDD Samsung 850 Evo 250GB
- Steam HDD WD 4TB (no Raid here)
- Win8.1
the game actually started up.
You're my hero.
I navigated on my system to the Steam harddrive and then "...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Batman Arkham Knight"... I first set "read only" flag for the bm_installscript.vdf file and then marked everything and removed the "read only" flag for all
after this I started again Batman AK and after 20 seconds I saw the little loading screen and 5-10 seconds later the game launched correctly
thanks Yeshua
In Windows, when you right click on a file or folder in explorer, a menu should appear.
There should be an item that reads "Properties" at the bottom (at least for me, on Windows 10). Left click that, and it should bring up another window with some tabs under its top menu bar.
One should read "General." For me, this was the leftmost tab. Select that tab by left clicking it.
At the bottom of the tab's menu (but a good distance above the "OK," "Cancel," and "Apply" buttons), there should be a row with the word "Attributes" on the left. To the right of it, you should see two check check boxes with text labels and a button labeled "Advanced..."
The two check boxes should each have text next to them. The left one reads "Read-only" and the right one reads "Hidden." If there is a check mark in the box to the left of the words "Read-only," left click the box to remove it.
At the bottom of the window, click the button labeled "Apply," which may have been grayed out previously but should now be active. At this point, the file is no longer "Read-only." Click OK and you're done.
For supplementary education for those who might not know, "Read-only" means that you can view the file and its contents, but not alter them in any way. Sometimes, a game's files become automaticaly labeled/flagged "Read-only" for whatever reason even though the game can't run without both reading and making changes to those files.
Hope this helped.
You might have to do it as admin, but I did this awhile ago.
