And the third type, that plays at 60fps at either 1080p or 1440p and doesn't try to run at 4k. Single GPU's are not powerful enough to handle high settings on new games yet (not even the 980ti can do it). I estimate 2 generations before single GPU's will be able to run games at 4k without severe performance loss.
Believe it or not, there are people that absolutely can't stand to even look at games at 30fps. I don't moan about the occasional 1-2fps drop though.
My MSI GAMING GTX 980 Ti runs at 1469MHZ and running the game at 4K with 60 FPS was never something I thought I could do. That is an unrealistic expectation.
I am willing to play at 50, 40 and even 30 FPS if its at 4K, it is just THAT good.
The point I am trying to make is that the MICROSTUTTERING happens when gliding and running on foot and when suddenly turning the camera when the FPS cap is set higher than 30 fps, REGARDLESS of resolution.
I even tested at 1080p ( The game looks shockingly bad at 1080p, when you have played it at 4K) and the microstuttering still happens after the cloudburst section. Before the cloudburst section, I had no stuttering whatsoever with the FPS unlocked. The only way to get rid of it completely at this point is to set the FPS cap to 30. This is the same stuttering that happened in Arkham City and was never fixed. It seems to be an asset streaming issue, weird since I have the game on an SSD.
Having played Arkham Knight at 4K, I simply cannot go back to 1080p. It looks TERRIBLE, even though I would probably get 90 FPS. The 30 FPS cap at 4K is definitely superior than 1080p at 60+ FPS for this game as the difference in visual quality is MASSIVE. Without the cap at 4K, I get anywhere from 35-45 FPS. A shame I cannot unlock the cap due to the microstuttering.
Wow, I just set my resolution to 1440 through dsr in nvidia panel and the game looks beautiful and all that jagged texture thing is gone! I was running game at 1080p 30 cap with gameworks on and it was very smooth but I hated that grainy/ jagged look. I have everything set to max except AA / Film grain and Chronic abb... set to off. The 30 cap seems to run smoother now when Im gliding and driving. People should def try this if they have a gtx 970 or sim.
Now try at 4K and thank me later :)
Wow - you couldn't be more incorrect. I'm currently playing the game at a solid 50-60fps in 3375x2078 resolution. Great game. Wish they had gotten SLI working, but it still runs pretty good with one rendering gpu and one physx processing gpu.
Did you change a .ini for that resolution? If so, which? I'd like to try it. Thanks.
No, it's a DSR resolution. Just enable DSR in your NVidia drivers and you should get more resolution options in-game.
When they said this I knew right then that didn't want the PC version to be that much different than the consoles....I blame Sony and MS for that, they probably paid or its in the contract not to have the PC version crap on the consoles.....and it's safer to just make them all perform and have the same visuals across all the platforms.
*Shrugs*
Except the PC version looks better, especially with all the GW-effects enabled at 1440p (if you have the rig to manage that)
Ya, not to mention the obvious framerate improvements. I can't even imagine trying to play this game at 30fps. Only way I could imagine enjoying that is if I had never seen proper gameplay at 45-60fps before. The old saying "ignorance is bliss" would be applicable here. I feel so bad for people who have to play on a lowly console. :( This game is a blast in UHD resolutions with everything cranked at 50-60fps.
Nothing wrong with consoles, at all. I play regularly on a PS4 and Wii U, and have a lot of fun. You give PC gamers a bad name...
I just call it like it is. You'll either get over it or you won't. Either way it is what it is. :)
Nothing wrong with playing console mate. 30Fps in my experience actually feels different in consoles compared to capping a PC game to 30Fps. On the PC it just feels jittery and on consoles it feels smooth and stable with no input lag (provided you turn off post processed film effects of your TV) very playable.
But I feel bad for people who limit themselves to one system unable to experience other amazing titles available out there. I myself own multiple builds of PC, my best being the 4770k with 2x GTX980Ti's build. I also play PS3/PS4/Xbox360/XboxOne/Wii. They all have great sets of exclusive games I was happy to experience. Dont get me wrong though, doesn't make one less of a gamer for limiting themselves to one system, its just unfortunate because there's more out there.
If 30Fps bothers you that much in consoles though, newer TV's have a MotionPlus option you can turn on which in my experience closely mimics 60Fps on a PC game. I've tested it myself using my PC and PS4. Dont exactly know how the option works but the difference is night and day with it on, almost felt like I was playing on my PC lol.
30fps is also the reason I don't own a next gen console other than a Wii U (Wii U games tend to target 60fps for the most part).
