AR car chase
Right, so I'm on the first AR challenge, where I have to destroy enemy vechiles by ramming into them or locking onto them and destroy them via some means.

So here is my problem. The cars drive faster than me, and I looked in the controls, does one have no speedboost at all for the batmobile?
Second of all, enemies don't appear on the minimap, so I spend 80% of my time trying to find a target.
Thirdly, if I try to use battlemode, i can only fire some lame sniper rifle things with my mouse wheel, while before it used to be a cannon of sorts that destroyed vechiles.

I can't get anywhere near completing this challenge at all.

What am I doing wrong? The game does not introduce the controls at all.

I did play this game at release, and I seem to recall having a speed boost, but I simply have noone this time around...

I remember quitting the game due to this AR challenge last time, so it looks like that might happen again...

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not to mention, the left mouse click machine gun only works 50% of the time, sometimes it just fires the same type of ammunition no matter if I press Left mouse button or the mousewheel.

What is going on?

Don't use battle mode for that challenge; it simply won't work. Those vehicles aren't drones; they're occupied. You can't use the machine gun or the mortar on them because there are people inside and Batman won't use lethal weapons on people. Instead, he'll just ineffectively fire non-lethal rounds at them no matter what weapon you try to use.

Instead, chase them down in pursuit mode and hit them with immobilizer missiles (initiate lock on with Left Ctrl and fire with Left Ctrl once locked on). Or you can just ram into them directly.

Yes, there's a boost. Use left click while in pursuit mode. It's unlocked at a certain point in the story, but I think you should be past that point.

Yeah, I realised I was trying to do the challenge without the afterburner yet, because I attempted it right as it was available.

Haven't done the challenge yet, I can see I can upgrade my afterburners and what not, so I guess I'll save it for later, it should be easier then

As chip already mentioned, there is an afterburner. From reading your OP, it seemed like you just started playing. You will def need both the afterburner, and the afterburner upgrade to succeed in this mode. I can't remember if it's avail from the get-go, or if it's an upgrade, but you should have the ability to side-swipe. Press a direction in pursuit mode, and hit A. Try to get the other vehicle to hit an obstacle. It's a fun burnout callback :)

Anyway, AR Car Chases are still tough, and a lot of it is just luck. The immobilizer missile will do you in a pinch, but at two hits per car, it's time consuming. The best thing I found is just to drive around, and try to hit cars head-on. It's a lot faster than chasing after them, and the more cars you take out, the more of them spawn; and so you will find that you will run until more cars, rather than driving around hunting them down.
