The gameplay was/is also a letdown, the way Rocksteady implemented the batmobile was irritating to state the least. It handles terribly, looks over-designed and ugly, and you are forced into mind numbing tank battles with drones over and over again, and you can only use the addon batmobiles (the good ones) after you complete the story, where there is barely any endgame to speak of.
The endgame is pointless, sure you can explore around parts of a boring version of Gotham (but pretty graphics hurr durr, which is enough for most dumb Rocksteady fanboys), but there is no random crime system like Origins had, which was a great endgame feature. No mission replay system, no batcave, no changing between batsuits without having to exit to the main menu (again, like Origins had). Most of the challenges are not accessible in the open world city, one has to exit to the main menu to access them, which is beyond dumb.
To top everything off you once again only get parts of Gotham to explore, and are such a cluster-f**k of a mess that it almost doesn't feel like parts of a real city, more like parts of an amusement park, only the rides are terrible (butt hurr durr, da grafix are gr8).
We need a better, more proper open world Batman game than this (that isn't lego), as Rocksteady never really delivered, and we are way overdue for one.
But it was stupid and not that great
Everyone has completely forgotten that this game was not liked back in 2015, its not even like people went "oh its not that bad!" everyone just pretends the game was never hated
Tank really sucked and got old, shouldn't have been the Deathstroke boss fight. Total let down.
Twist was painfully obvious. Even before the game came out.
Mircotransactions in a solo player game, terrible. But the DLC'S were pretty good (Red Hood's was a bit half baked though, stupid costume too)
Riddler trophies weren't as well implemented thanks to the scale of the map.
A lot of flaws in this game. A lot of reasons to hate it... but I still really love it. The highs are really high, visuals and art direction are perfect, almost exactly how I'd expect Gotham to look.
Gameplay was still fun enough I could overlook all of that and spend countless hours on PS4 platinuming the game, challenge maps and DLC's.
