Which movie to watch before playing Arkham Knight?
Hey there,
I'd like to start playing Arkham Knight, remember it being really fun when I played it on console while hanging out with friends. The thing is - I've never watched a Batman movie, nor have I seen any of the cartoons or read any of the comics. So I basically know nothing about the universe. I've played Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, but forgot everything about the story and actually didn't care much for it or the characters back then. In retrospective I believe it's a waste of time playing playing such franchise games (even if they are highly rated) without watching at least one of the movies or something similar.

Recently I finished Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and thought I'm doing it different this time. So I watched Episode 3 with original dub, the other 5 I had already watched with a friend years ago in German so it was the only one missing anyways, and I had a really good time watching the movie. Loved it actually. Playing the game afterwards was an awesome experience because I understood all the references and immediately knew what they were talking about when they spoke about Order 66. Never would have understood whats going on without the movie, so watching it was essential for me to enjoy the game.
Funny thing is: Star Wars didn't click for me all those years and I thought I don't like it, maybe it was because of the German dub. I don't know actually. But now after I've watched Episode 3 it does, and I kinda love the universe.

So my question is which movie should I watch before even considering playing Arkham Knight, which I know I'll like from a gameplay-perspective. But, I also know I have to watch at least one movie in the original dub to get a grasp of why people like Batman and its universe - to check if it is something for me. Hope it was not to much to read, thanks for sticking with me. Looking forward to reading from you guys.

Many thanks,
SirRichard

There's actually a movie adaptation of the same source material this game is partly inspired by, so that could be a good pick.

But if you want to be spoilers-free, Batman Begins is also a good pick, since it features Scarecrow just like AK does.

So, what's the movie adaptation called? The one based on the same source material

Could be considered a spoiler so I'll spoiler tag it:

I think another idea is watch the Batman The Animated Series. The games are heavily inspired by them. Also Batman The Mask of the Phantasm. Which are voiced by Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and Joker.

If you have Amazon Prime, you can watch the Animated series for free.

The one movie with Patrick Bateman, it's literally the bomb.
