It's not "running as background task" it's simply taking a long time or failing to launch.
As D'harhan said, you sometimes just need to wait. the game can take a long time to launch, esp the first tim because it has to activate with Denuvo. Firewall settings can slowing things.
It's also possible that the game is failing to launch because there is something wrong your PC config or you don't mett the requirements.
Been playing it until 52% progression. No crash/lag/issues at all.
But after the mission when you have to capture the Joker clones, the game started to crashed.
It just crashed with no error message (Unresponsive) and screwed up sound.
Can only play for about 5 - 10 minutes tops before crashing and had to restart the PC
I've already tried the steps mentioned, didn't work
Tried to lower all the graphic settings, still no no. (i didn't use Nvidia gameworks)
Not doing OC either.
Specs:
Windows 10
i7 4790K
GTX 970
RAM 16GB
Corsair CX750M
Check the windows event log. Search for "batmanak.ex"
If by "screwed up sound" you mean it was just making noise/looping sound that's a side effect of a program which has stopped running. it happens because whatever was last in the sound buffer will just continue to loop to output until the application is killed completely.
Please next time, place a "SPOILER ALERT" on first
it says

yes, its looping sound
is it hardware-related issues ?
Edited, sorry mate
The game's been out for more than a year, we're past such things. Don't read the forums if you don't want "spoilers"
kernel power events occur when the system shutdowns unexpectedly. If that's really your issue then you have a thermal or power related problem at cause. The game itself may be inducing the behaviour by putting the hardware under load, but it's not the culprit.
Wow, seems like you should fix that instead of making customers delete game files.
What are you talking about?

\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Knight\_CommonRedist
Open the vcredist folder and within the 2010 and 2012 folder run both the x64 and x86 installers.
My PC is an Intel i5 3.2ghz, 8gb ram, video amd r7 360 2GB, Windows 10. Help please!
please post your own thread with as much info as you can. look in the event log and search for batmanak.exe.
I'm experiencing a severe stutter and sometimes audio lags at the same time, city, cutscenes, doesn't matter. At the fresh start of the game everything is going ok but then after x time it begins, total craziness that makes game unplayable
I have disabled all nvidia fancy stuff from graphical options
tried vsync off/on doesn't help, tried windowed fullscreen, nope
updated drivers for graphic card
I have 8gb of ram
and gtx 970
Any way to eliminate this problem?
