btw, these blind enemies that can't see you from 5 meters...In Arkham City, batman wold be killed already. Knight is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ easy, made for mоrons, only challenge is it's many bugs.
I rate the games as Knight > Asylum = Origins >> City
That's not saying City is a bad game...it's just the worst (relatively speaking) of the Arkham series.
1. Arkham City/AK
2. Arkham Knight/AC
3.Arkham Asylum
4. Arkham Origins
I love them all though.
How is it stupid by comic book standards? It's taken almost directly from Batman Beyond.
As far as best story in the Arkham franchise...that goes to Origins. Origins also had the best boss battles and the 2nd best atmosphere (best atmosphere goes to Asylum). Origins is one of the most underrated games I've ever played. The only reason I rate it the same as Asylum instead of better is because of how awesome and groundbreaking Asylum was when it came out, along with the amazing environments. (Asylum is the weakest entry in the series when it comes to the combat, but you have to remember that it was the pioneer of the combat system we have today so it gets some leeway.)
City improved the combat from Asylum. But everything else is worse. Story is worse. Environment/atmosphere is worse. Don't get me wrong though. I'm not saying City is a bad game. It's still a great game and better than 95% of the other stuff out there. But I'd rate it 8/10 where I'd give Asylum and Origins 9.5/10 and Knight 9.8/10.
Arkham Knight to me is more of a Dark Knight Rises game that we never got, with all the tanks, militia and stuff like that.
Knight's animation is significantly better. The combat does have some issues, but then again City isn't perfect, either. Knight's combat is quite a bit faster, but so are the enemies in some ways; the thugs with knives and sword wielders actually seem like they're trying to stab you this time. The counter icons appear much earlier on enemies which may be easier in some ways, but it makes sense.
I'm torn with the Batmobile, because I do find it fun to drive and quite like the tank sections. It just doesn't fit with Batman. If Rocksteady made a game centred on agile tanks like this and really polished it up it could be great fun.
The boss battles are the main way City trumps Knight. Rocksteady's issue in Asylum was loving the freeflow combat too much and being scared to deviate from it. City got out of this rut, particularly with Mr Freeze. Sadly, they fell back into bad habits with Knight, this time hiding behind the Batmobile.
I don't like Origins, but one thing that game proved was that one-on-one freeflow combat is possible. Deathstroke was great fun to fight. RS just doesn't seem to have the guts to try it.
I think City offers the best gameplay of the 3 (or 4 if you count origins), better fighting, better puzzles and variety.
But the story is all over the place. Too many plot twists and enemies. It's like two great stories put together with a bunch of side-mission around. If they focused on Strange's story or Joker's, we could have a (maybe shorter) more engaging and better developed universe.
Knight just falls into the "more is better" logic.
The plot is bad, villains are wasted and rushed, more than on City, they were merely tools for some missions, there is almost no development or sense of danger from them (even though scarecrow's plan is great). It just tries to add more menace, more enemies and more twists than City, and just looses itself quite fast.
Graphics and mechanics (on batman) are great, but the batmobile is just silly.
First, it's a tank, not a batmobile. The fact that the tank and batman share the same space on the splash screen already shows that he is not the only focus in the game.
Everything about the tank just doesn't feel batman. It's ridiculous and repetitive, it's there for the sake of being there, to show that this game offers more than City.
