This is an unfortunate old bug that's never been fixed. You'll want to make sure to never turn on any of the "NVIDIA" effect options in the graphics options menu. You'll find those at the lowest section of that menu in the game graphics options.
Once you turn those on, the game will just crash on you upon loading, sometimes not allowing you to get in the game menu. If this happens, you'll have edit or completely delete the Config file in the BMGame folder which is found in the main installation within your Steamapps folder, so it can generate a default config file again and you can readjust your graphics settings again from scratch (but leaving off the NVIDIA effects this time around).
It's annoying as heck but once you turn off those NVIDIA effects (which are useless and broken anyways) your game should run perfectly find afterwards. I'm replaying the game now after over a year and I see that my options are still the same with the NVIDIA effects turned off. lol
Hope this helps you.
Did the game ever load for you before you changed any options or did it just crash on you upon the first time you booted??
If the latter, then there could be something getting in the way, like MSI Afterburner, XOC, etc. If you run any kind of GPU utility in the background, see if turning them off helps.
Darksiders II crashes on me upon boot if my evga XOC GPU tuner is on in the background. Once I turn it off, the game runs fine. It could be the same for this game....
Nope. I can't even go into settings... Thanks, I'll look for what utilities can influence this
I've tried deleting config file. Nothing.
Tried full uninstall / reinstall. Nothing.
My thoughts are its a driver incompatibility. Brought this to NVIDIA's attention here:
