Reshade question - what is DPX.fx?

Can someone well versed in Reshade explain to me what exact DPX is and what it does?

I use Reshade on most games just for the Vibrancy shader to give each game a little boost to the color, but I discovered the DPX shader recently and it makes Arkham Knight look amazing, especially if you play around with the sliders.

I want to know what the shader actually does and if there are any drawbacks to using it. I don't want to use it if it's going to cause me to lose any detail or something like that.
