Riddler's Race Issue

OK, this is really frustrating me. In the first lap of Riddler's race, near the end of the lap (I think), you have to make a very long jump. The game prompts me to use the left stick to control my pitch while in mid-jump, but I cannot seem to ever make the jump. The farthest I ever seem to make is landing my front tires. Any advice?

Are you using nitro boost when you jump?

I am using nitro boost. I've tried it both right before the jump and during the jump, but to no avail. There must be some very fine point I am missing.

Yes, I am still unable to do it. It is the absolute first race the Riddler puts you through, after you untie Catwoman.

If you're using boost properly (applying it before the jump and holding it down to build speed), then the only other thing you have to do on the long jump on that track is to make sure you activate the white floor extension panel while in mid air to land on.
