Steam asks me to install game yet it's already installed

Steam states that Arkham Knight is not installed in my library, yet navigating to the steamapps/common folder it's there for me. I worry about attempting to install it again for fear that it may overwrite/duplicate files in the same directory. I also worry if this may delete any save data that I have achieved.
