hey man thanks for your reply, unfortunatly i already have the anniversary update and the fixes in that thread did not fix the issue for me :(
nah that wont work since it worked before on my external, but thanks anyway
there is no microsoft xbox controller, just xbox controller ive tried back ports and other ports and no i do not have other controllers plugged in, ive only ever used the xbox one controllers
never mind i fixed it! :)
Thank you so much! I was really struggling making it to work.
I did that and my PC started to crash every time i turn on my controller (Xbox Series).
Do not try. U will end up getting blue screen of death in windows every time u turn on your wireless controller.
Only way to fix it is to delete your bluetooth controller and add a new one in windows.
The problem with my game is that it always recognize my controller as PS4 and i cant use it in this game.
But xbox360 gamepad works like a a charm.
I am currently running a restore point on my pc in hope this resolves the issue.
DO NOT TRY THIS. IT WILL ACTIVELY BREAK YOUR PC.
I am not sure why its causing your PC's to crash. Maybe you're disabling something else. It's hard to believe that disabling a game controller is causing your PC's to BSOD. Nevertheless, my method is what personally worked for me. I wouldn't of made my method public if all it did was cause me BSOD.
First, I tried the fix from OP and got BSOD any time the controller attached after that. I ran into the same problem that others had where they thought they would have to hit a retore point or reinstall their driver.
I found a work around!
Go into Device Manager and under View select "Show Hidden Devices."
This should show the HID-Compliant Game Controller in the list now.
Right click and select properties.
Click on the Driver Tab.
You should see the option for "Enable Driver."
It MIGHT be grayed out, but don't worry.
Power on your controller. Once it connects you have a few seconds before the BSOD occurs. In those few seconds, you 'll see the Grayed out Enable Button become live. Click it.
All should be as it was without having to do a restore point restore or backup restore.
If have the game on epicgames, and it worked after I added and launched it via Steam.
ps. decided to write this only cause someone else commented on this 5 year old thread 9 hours ago
