Beneath the Surface "Need to rescue guard" bug?

On the killer croc mission, at the start, you talk to the first guard then the prisoner and then you're supposed to go through the vent and under some pipes, right? But when I approach the pipes I can't go under them and Batman just says "I need to rescue the prison guard, first." Has anybody else encountered this? I haven't found anything about it online and every walkthrough says I should be able to just move forward.

Are you pressing Crouch to go under the pipes? If so, first both verify and patch the game:
1. Select game in Library, right-click Properties > Local Files, Verify Integrity of Game Files.
2. Select game in Library, right-click Properties > Updates, Automatic Updating.

Next, open the game's Options > Graphic Options menu and reduce your in-game screen resolution from maximum for improved object and proximity registration when you next use the Crouch command. Your game res might be too high to properly record interactions or traversal. Let us know your results.
