How do I get the freeze gun?

So, I'm trying to complete the Beneath The Surface DLC. I just got into the airship and saved the first guard. However, I can't get past the steam pipes because it requires the freeze gun. How do I go about getting it? Do I need to complete or at least start the Mister Freeze DLC before doing the Killer Croc one?

Not gun, grenade. Grab it in the Panessa studio.

Its freeze blast and its more like a hidden gadget. You can find this gadget in Panessa Studios(near Batcomputer) if I remember it right.

On the other hand you have the option to turn off the valves with batarangs. Although I don't have any idea whether its possible to progress to the final room.

Weird that nothing about it was mentioned until I got to that part of the DLC. I was actually able to get past the steam, I just needed to fall in the water and I magically appeared on the other side. However I need to create an ice block to get past the next part, cause gliding is impossible.

You only need the Batarang to shut off the steam, and the Line Launcher to navigate the section past the steam vents to the warden.
