STUTTER FIX FOR BATMAN ARKHAM KNIGHT
UPDATE: I get it, I need more RAM, but seriously this is the only game I was having this problem with.

So, I was actually having a bunch of trouble with this game in particular as far as stutter is concerned. I went through quite a few different optimization guides for Windows 10 as I actually haven't had a gaming computer in about 7 or 8 years and for the life of me could not figure out my problem. Now, when I bought the computer I must admit I wasn't fully educated on my product information anymore...after all, been a long time. Anyway, here's my PC specs:
AMD Ryzen 3 1200 3.1Ghz (Boosted to 3.4Ghz) on an ASUS A320M-R WiFi.
Nvidia GTX 1050ti 4GB (I have this OC'd with MSI Afterburner)
Single Channel 8GB RAM (HELP!)
7200rpm HDD (I can't remember the brand)
Anyway, these specs are more than enough to handle the game...so I couldn't understand why I was getting stutter at even LOW settings. If you have tried EVERYTHING else like I have and you're wondering "What else can I do?" Grab yourself a decent sized flash drive (I'm using a 14GB) plug it into your USB 3.0 port if ya got one, type "this pc" into your windows search, open it, right click on your flash drive and enable ReadyBoost. I cannot tell you how much smoother my game runs. I went through 24ish hours of gameplay constantly messing with video settings, searching for new optimization techniques...and tried ALL of them. Well, the one's I considered safe. THIS WAS THE ONLY THING THAT HAS PROVIDED ME A STABLE SMOOTHED 37FPS to 75FPS on HIGH SETTINGS. And the best part is... NO STUTTER!!!!!

Stuttering can be caused by a lot of things.
Using Ready Boost compensated for insufficient system RAM and (probably) a slow HDD. Fixed the stutter in your case, but it's not a universal solution.
Glad it works for you, though. It's a game worth playing.

I know. That's why I prefaced it with saying "If you've tried EVERYTHING else like I have..."
Really just wanted to throw it out there because I haven't seen anyone else talk about it!

You don't have enough RAM. The only fix is to add more. This game requires a bare minimum of 12GB under Win10. Also, noone should EVER be using single channel RAM on a gaming PC, it severely limits your performance.

I mean, even looking at the System Requirements for the game it doesn't say you need 12GB. And yeah, my single channel RAM is a big issue. Bought the PC pre-built. Not doing that again. Haha. Gonna upgrade to 16GB of dual channel pretty soon.

In every setting maxed it consumes more than 8
I turn off interactive fog, antialiasing, and debris. Even when I set the game to all low settings I was still experiencing stutter. I can only imagine at this point it's either my GPU (which I don't understand?) or the 8GB single channel RAM that came pre-installed on my machine. Other than more RAM, should I add an external SSD? Or just switch to one?

Upgrade your ram to 16 for other games you’ll need it. Are you have a SSD in your current rig?
I'm running a 1TB HDD. No SSD at all. That's actually why I can even use ReadyBoost.

16GB is the absolute bare minimum for a gaming PC in 2020. If you want to stand a chance of running ANY newer games at all, you're going to need to upgrade. AK is a 5 year old game and you're still having problems, so that should put things into perspective.

dude.. don't waste money upgrading that pc unless its only the ram for a minute because even if your PC budget is low, ive seen way better setups for not much over $500 so maybe just save and learn about PC hardware so when youre ready to buy you get a good deal.

I've been doing a lot of catch up, and honestly other than the poorly chosen single stick of 8GB RAM the only thing I would consider "low" spec on my computer is the motherboard. Which I also intend on replacing. And why shouldn't I spend money upgrading my PC? I already have a tower, working HDD, decent graphics card and a 700W power supply. What would be so bad about spending money to replace parts?

Well, it's really only that game. Everything else runs great. I've been playing The Outer Worlds on Very High with no problems. I've been running Control with no issues, just not at max settings. No need to bog down on me. Haha. If you read previous comments I mentioned upgrading to 16gb dual channel RAM.

You’ll need more ram.

If you're planning to change the MB, go for a B550. It'll allow you to upgrade the CPU to a higher tier Zen2 or a Zen3 whenever you like without a headache.
I'd even say you should change that first, before the RAM.
As for the memory, the better option would be to get rid of the one you have and buy a 8+8 dual-channel kit.
It all depends on your budget. Patching up an 8GB DIMM with the same specs as the current one is a cheaper, faster solution.

i mean, idk you might be right depending on your goals. yea, that PC might be pulling its weight for what youre doing, but honestly it is pretty low range at this point... which, if your only goal is 1080p, you could still get away with it for a while.

when you say youre replacing the motherboard, i assume you are going to upgrade the cpu and honestly with this new generation of games coming up, you will be really happy for an upgrade on the 1050ti, because it sounds like you want to get a little bit serious about PC gaming. so add the ram and ssd and how much are you looking to spend? you might get more for your money if you lookout for a used PC... or do you want to do just enough to scrape by on this one and maybe save up to build a really nice one yourself in a year+

idk your goals, but it sounds like you dont want to spend a great deal at this point so im just trying to give my best advice for you to hopefully get the best bang for your buck

Hey, I appreciate the advice. I actually will be upgrading this PC via straight up replacing components. The tower I have is decent, and the HDD isn't bad. Although I'll probably switch to an SSD before too long, I think my first priorities are motherboard, RAM, and and RTX model card.

wake up! we are in 2020 , not in 1990 , 8GB Ram in 2020 are ridiculous. :lunar2019crylaughingpig::lunar2019crylaughingpig:
