I am already holding Space down during the 'run towards the edge' part of the manuever.
Or, do you mean I should hold it down during the dive?
Because I don't get to that part, because Batman just crouches on the spot instead of 'transitioning into a glide'.
I will experiment more with the space bar next time I am ingame though.
Anyway, sincere thanks for your input. :)
Whenever I press Crouch, he just Crouches on the spot as though that one key is over-riding every other key input.
For instance, when I press Crouch while running, he doesn't go into a Slide. He just stops moving and Crouches on the spot. I have never seen my Arkham Knight Batman do a Slide.
Because of this issue, I just assumed that Slide had been removed from the game (which isn't as stupid as it sounds, considering that Bat Swarm was removed).
I will repost here if I think of anything new to try, otherwise thanks again for your input. :)
nope, you haven't, it doesn't exist in the previous titles. it was a new "feature" to BAK. While running towards a ledge simply press and hold the crouch key. Batman should automatically transition from run to dive. The game will prompt you when the time is right to hold crouch, but in my experience you can simply press and hold it while continuning to run. Chances for you are that your keyboard doesn't support multiple key inputs which may explain why you are stopping and crouching instead of continuing to run.
also, you need to double tap and hold crouch for slide.
Doesn't matter if I tap or hold Crouch, he just stops on the spot and crouches.
You are 100% correct, because I didn't communicate effectively.
I don't mean the maneveur itself, I mean the button actions.
For instace, if you perform the exact same actions (run at edge and hold crouch) in Arkham City, you slide towards the edge of the wall, slide off, and hang down (another thing that Arkham Knight Batman refuses to do for me).
If you press Crouch a little later, just as you hit the edge, then you will 'transition into a dive'. Animation-wise, at least.
And according to YouTube, it looks *exactly the same as in Arkham Knight*.
This is all I meant by that.
Yes, he should. I coudn't agree more. :)
I'm not trying to be smart-mouthed, I genuinely just wish it worked at intended for me.
Again, pressing Crouch makes me stop on the spot and crouch, no matter what is happening.
That was my initial thought, but if that's the case then this is the only game that has that issue. All other games - including the other Arkham games - allow this of my keyboard, so I cannot see how it's the keyboard.
But I think you may still have a point, it definitely bears further investigation. If it IS a problem at my end, then the keyboard is definitely the culprit.
I'll pop ingame soon and see if there any situations where I can definitely use 3 keys on the keyboard at once in Arkham Knight. If I can't, then you'll have solved the issue, Buck: "Use another keyboard."
100% honesty here: I didn't realise that. I guess I didn't even read the tooltip properly, just assumed it would be the same as the other games.
Man, I hope that's the issue: That I actually HAVE been controlling him wrong.
When you say 'double tap and press hold', I have assumed you mean like the timing for the Space bar with the Ariel Takedown, or the Grapnel Boost upgrade.
(But I should be using that timing on the Crouch key, Ctrl - not the Space bar.)
So I will try that, but here is my prediction:
I will try running towards the edge of a roof and doubletapping-into-a-hold, and Batman will just stop and Crouch on the spot.
Anyway, only one way to find out: Operation Stop Batman Accidentally Teabagging The Scenery is a go!
***UPDATE****
Okay, Buck - you were right about the Slide. I have finally seen my Arkham Knight Batman Slide! He even slides over the edge of a roof and and hangs down, just like in Arkham City. So thanks for that, I feel confident in actually trying some Riddler stuff now. Cheers! :)
Sadly, the other issue still persists, the title problem.
Here are some notes I took:
- The game will accept 3 keys being input. I can run diagonally, wihch means I am holding down Space, W, and Q (or whatever).
- I tried using the exact same timing as the Slide key-Hold on the Transition key-Hold, but it changed nothing (i.e. Ran at roof by Heling W and Space, then let go of W *a split second* before Holding Ctrl)
- I have tried it while Hold W and Space, as well. No difference.
So, at this stage, I am prepared to admit defeat. I don't think I need the achievement ingame to unlock any equipment (please let me know if that's wrong, anyone!), and I've finished the game already.
I feel I've already gotten my moneys worth from this game - which I wasn't expecting to enjoy at all, to be honest - so I am more than happy to chalk it up to 'being one of those freakish things, a 1 in a million glitch, because everybody has different components in their PC'.
I mean, I'll also try another keyboard, just so I can say I've troubleshot properly, but I don't think it'll make a difference. I'll also try a fresh re-install, one day.
Beyond that, I'll just smile and wave, and play the Riddler stuff and the Challenge missions.

Sincere thanks to everyone who tried to help, I genuinely appreciate your time. I'll think of you all fondly the next time I am cracking some Gotham skulls :)
-get some distance away from the ledge
-hold down the forward key
-while holding down forward key press and hold space
-while holding down forward and space, press and hold CTRL (crouch)
keep all three depressed and you should run and dive off the edge.
In brief, you have to press and hold control while you are already running toward the edge.
I had the same problem myself and found the answer by googling. Sorry if I'm not adding anything new, I didn't read the full thread.
For awhile I couldn't slide either because I habitually just pressed and held it. Sort of stumbled upon that after awhile.
That will work, but all you really need to do is tap and release crouch. Releasing the key is what initiates the slide. Tapping a second time is redundant.
shrug. I dunno, all i know is that in previous games I pressed and held (probably unnecessary), but in BAK a single tap just doesn't work for me, I HAVE to double tap or nothing even happens.
I'm not denying that it works differently in AK than in AC and AO. In those previous games, the slide was initiated on pressing crouch, so tap-and-hold would work just as well as tap-and-release. In AK, it's not initiated until you've pressed and released crouch, so tap-and-hold doesn't work anymore; you need tap-and-release. (The change, of course, is to accomodate the "transition into dive" feature.)
You say you see it working when you double tap crouch, which is true, but, again, that's because you necessarily do a tap-and-release in order to make the second press. The tap-and-release alone is sufficient.
I'm not suggesting you change how you do it or anything. Just clearing up the misconception.
