Having Issues with Interactive Smoke
It's been dealing with an ongoing problem for a few weeks now. Can't exactly remember if it was caused by a driver update but I figured that maybe someone has the solution.

Basically, interactive smoke/fog is enabled in graphics setting along with the other gameworks option however smoke isn't actually showing up in game. For example, there's no smoke when i do a wheel spin in the batmobile but i notice that the frame rate dips to the 30s in areas where the smoke is suppose to show.

specs
i5-4690k
16GB DDR3
GTX 1080Ti
Game was downloaded on a 3TB HDD and is set to a resolution of 3440x1440

Any known fixes for this kind of problem? PhysX processor was already manually set to the GPU, driver is up to date(390.77). I'm at a loss to get this one graphics option running. All other gameworks option run fine. There's paper debris (Cash) in penguin's weapon cache and enhanced rain shows up just fine when Batman spreads his cape to glide. I've used DDU to remove the nvidia driver and reinstalled the latest driver but that didn't help.

I've uninstalled the game and redownload/reinstalled it, no luck...

Fixed. I had to simply restart the computer after selecting 1080ti as my physx settings processor in nvidia control panel.

Never heard of such an issue, but if the problem is anywhere it's with either the gameworks configuration, or the physx system software/driver.

If you only have one GPU then it shouldn't be necessary to manually select it (enhanced physx can't run on a CPU anyway.

Try a different/earlier driver version.

I eventually got the smoke/fog feature to work. Don't know why but it worked after restarting the computer after selecting the GPU as my physx processor in Nvidia Control Panel.

This fixed it for me also -- am able to run everything max settings with no further problems (thus far).

You have to downgrade your nvidia drivers to 457.51 to get the smoke to work. Nvidia broke it with the driver that came out for Cyberpunk and it hasn't been fixed yet. If you're going to be playing this game you need 457.51 until Nvidia fixes it, who knows when that will happen.

This is one reason you should never update your graphic card drivers unless you absolutely have to.

Yeah, just tried playing today and it's happening again. Lame.

old thread is old. This thread has absolutely nothing to do with the current driver issue.

yeah... never understood the "always keep your graphics drivers updated" notion... not once have I ever experienced improved performance as a result of updating, there are however, multiple instances of decreases and the ability to even run... I think nVidia just wants me to watch the slideshow of its latest wares while it downloads absolutely nothing...:-)

I'm using version 456.71 of nVidia's driver and have no issues with running the game. I've disabled all PhysX in-game effects.

AMD Phenom II x4 CPU
nVidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti video card
20 GB RAM

Then what does it have to do with, unhelpful person who just wants to spout off at the mouth.

Because necro'ing a long dead irrelevant thread then being butthurt about having that pointed out is SO constructive?

Well you wouldn't then because the issue is with the gameworks features, of which physx is a part of.

Still waiting for the helpful bit of wisdom you are obviously so full of that it's pouring out your eyelids as if you were a cartoon character.
