If you only have one GPU then it shouldn't be necessary to manually select it (enhanced physx can't run on a CPU anyway.
Try a different/earlier driver version.
This fixed it for me also -- am able to run everything max settings with no further problems (thus far).
Yeah, just tried playing today and it's happening again. Lame.

Well you wouldn't then because the issue is with the gameworks features, of which physx is a part of.
