Anyway, OP by gadget selection you mean the gadget wheel? And, I didn't know this, but right alt just like left ctrl is a default crouch button.
The gadget wheel does work with right alt, the only thing is that after you select a gadget from the wheel batman will do a quick crouch. If you don't mind that I can tell you how to bind it, so let me know.
Edit: I just tried with left control and it works. Strange. Thank you very much!
Oh ok great, you won't have the crouch problem with that one then.
Anything is ~possible~, but that doesn't make it a good idea. there's a reason why modifier keys are not usually available for rebinding. The alt key is just not meant to be used that way. while it might work with some, many keyboards simply won't understand the alt key being used that way.
I just wanted to give him the tools to achieve what he wanted, the rest is up to him and the hardware.
Are you just going to run around resurrecting every thread on this topic?
we know you can modify the .ini too's,
I used Microsoft's "Power Toys" to switch functions between L-Alt (so it can be pressed on its own) and L-Shift (so it can be used for combinations with other keys)

Well actually, what this sounds like is that an arrogant forum first-post-responder wanted to get his quick "no, you don't know what you're talking about" message in for the day, so he could feel superior to the person asking, only to find out later that he himself wasn't the one who knew what he was talking about. You can try to walk it back and pretend that you didn't really mean *not possible* per se, but merely *inadvisable*, and that your definitive statement shouldn't be received as such, but it's pretty obvious you spoke out of turn in a matter-of-fact tone without having the actual facts on your side - and now you got caught. I hate it when internet people do this so I love to call it out when they're discovered.
Inadvisable is not the same as impossible, but nice try. ;-)
