Game stopped working: "THIS VERSION OF DIRECTX IS NOT SUPPORTED BY THE TITLE"
"Arkham Knight" had been working perfectly fine for months, but just today after a while without playing, the following message appears as the game fails to launch: " this version of directx is not supported by title, please confirm your system requirements".

I've not made any particular changes to the system, other than the windows 10 updates. I saw there was an Nvidia Physx drivers update to version 13.8813 (which occurred as part of the general W10 update)

What is wrong here, and how to solve it? Should I wait for Nvidia's next update to fix this? Go back to an older drivers version, or WHAT?? -Thanks!

BTW:
GeForce GTX 980Ti
&
DirectX 12

I had the same problem, so I uninstalled the last driver, and then the game never ran again D:

Any news on your situation? So far, I've done nothing at all; since this problem seems to be related to the most recent nvidia drivers.. it should be fixed on THEIR end, I would say. I mean it was all working without any trouble, until that "upgrade"..

But any information / help / ideas on the subject would be welcome.

If you have windows 10 pro, then you can use the group policy editor to prevent windows update from installing drivers. I rediscovered this after windows 10 suddenly started forcing me to install 388.31. After I enabled the option, I then did a clean install of 385.41 and haven't been bugged about it since.

After installing new drivers, or reinstalling an old one, check the control panel to make sure the physx is set to use your card, not your processor or auto-select.

yeap.. freedom of choice, it seems, is a problem they just don't want for their users to have to deal with..

Don't seem to have that option (or couldn't find it). Got W10 Enterprise, btw. Thanks for your comment, tho; maybe useful to other users having the same problem.

did you fix it

Windows 10 enterprise has all the features pro does, which is what I have, so you should have access to the group policy editor.

To find it, type gpedit.msc in the search, it will be called Microsoft Common Console Document.

Now go to Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Component and then you scroll down and click Windows Update. A list will show up in the right window, you want to double-click on "Do not include drivers with Windows Update". Once the window appears, you want to select Enabled, hit Apply, then Ok, and reboot after closing the editor.

Afterwards, you can then do a clean install of the driver you want. I recommend not going above 385.69, as every driver above that seems to mess with the rain effects.

Nope.. but look at the latest reply posted by Arik on this thread. Will try that out. Dunno what Windows you have, tho, but if it's W10 might be of service. "More news as we have 'em"

Alrighty.. gonna try that one out, then. Thx!

Oh it's this thread again.

Please search before posting. This is a well know issue, the problem is your graphics drivers. Remove/reinstall/upgrade them. you may need to remove the game's "config" folder and do a game cache verify as well to ensure that the game properly detects current hardware.

Another well know issue is an idiot going around threads assuming that everyones problem is their graphics card driver .

remove/reinstall will do nothing if the issues is caused by the driver itself (which is often the case with this game. Remember the "cannot be ejected or removed" crap"?). And upgrading them may not be possible if its caused by the latest driver. Rolling back is not possible if you use windows 10 (unless you have the pro version that is) because windows will nicely update them for you again...

I have never known games be messed up by drivers more than the arkham series.
