GTX 970 performance question.
First off I'll list my system specs.
GTX 970
I5-4460
16GB RAM

I see most people saying that this game is fixed now. I've seen benchmarks with the GTX 970 that stays above 60 fps as well, but I can't seem to achieve the same results. I dip into the low 50's and sometimes into the 40's while gliding and driving the Batmobile.

I disabled all Gamesworks settings so that isn't the problem. I've also lowered every setting as well as the resolution and still experience the exact same frame rate dips. That doesn't make any sense to me. I am using the latest drivers by the way.

Is this just common performance for the 970 with this game? Is it because I'm running the game from a HDD and not an SSD? I've seen some people online suggest that running the game on an SSD actually improves performance, but I don't know if there is any validity to this. Is it my CPU? I know the game can be taxing on your CPU so maybe I just need to upgrade mine. It's fine with every other game though.

I would absolutely love to play this game at a flawless 60 fps. As of right now I just lock the frame rate to 30 to avoid to dips and stuttering issues which can really ruin my gaming experience.

Thanks for any feedback guys. Hopefully I can find a fix for this.

Hey man!Game industry is running so fast that's why the "new components" in a month significantly worse start the game novelties. So for the best experience you can try the cloud-based Playkey service, which runs the game on its powerful servers and broadcasts it to you on the monitor. So you somehow manage the stream. The only condition is an excellent internet (from 25 Mb / s).Have a good day)

yeah seymore that happened to me too. I have a gtx 960 and it ran 60+ fps on low settings at 1080p just a few months ago, but now the game lags at 480p

It's strange for sure. Sucks that such a fun game has been hampered by performance issues on PC.

hi seymore butts, i'm french so xcuz for the language...
i7 / gtx965 / 8go
when i started the game, it was on my hdd.... but to much lag and crash...impossible to play. i asked steam for help.... they say ask the conceptors... so i asked wb..... but the answers was like "what's wrong !!!!"
so, i transfer the file on my ssd and it was working really better. some few lags again but nothing compare 'cause i could play....
now, for empty my ssd, i put the game back on my hdd..... and guess what ? ... lags, lags and lags...... i almost finish the game (96%) and i more enraged with this mess !!

Thanks for the reply. I will purchase an SSD soon and I will put Arkham Knight on it. Hopefully that can help my situation. Thanks for the tip.

I just ordered an SSD last night and it should arrive tomorrow. I will let you know if it helps as soon as I can.

ok, but I have read a post yesterday about the same problem and I think it's important.... it's about where exactly are the file of the game.... I mean, from what I understood, it's probably necessary, to put the game in "program files (x86)" ..... but, by exemple, for me, program files (x86) is on my SSD with the BIOS and I don't have that much storage capacity !!!!!
well, so I don't know if an external SSD could run better the game... I hope so.

I don't know what settings you are aiming for, but run around them and figure out which settings suits you the best and gives you the best fps. The game had really bad optimization at release, but now people say that it's fixed. My brother has a GTX 1060 with i5 6600K and runs the game on 1080p, maxed out settings with 80+ fps.

I recommend turning off the paper debris, because a friend of mine has 1050 Ti and says that paper debris drops his fps. Use the max performance setting on the game. (right click on the desktop and it should pop up) Lower resolution to maybe 720p. Turn off realistic rain or what it was. Try to look for some kind of tutorials on how to increase fps. Good luck.

Edit: The recommendations require at least a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 - 3 GB VRAM and you have 970 which should run the game with fair settings and fps. Maybe it's a driver issue that drops your fps or maybe a bottleneck.

best guess is that the game is busting it's vram cap on your card. even though the 970 is said to be a 4gb card, it actually encounters performance issues when using more than 3.5gb of it and Arkham Knight is very vram hungry. I couldn't get stable framerates out of it until i upgraded to my r9 390 that has 8gb of vram. Now i'm getting mostly 60fps with some minor dips on max settings at 1080p. Also my cpu is a modest fx8320 and i have 16 gb of ddr3 at 1600mhz so not much special about my pc. Try adjusting you settings with a 3.5gb cap in mind instead of a 4gb and you may see performance improvements.

I understand this but the thing is that it performs exactly the same with everything maxed out (except Nvida gameworks) as it does with everything on the lowest possible setting, even the resolution. This shows me it's not my card. I'm not sure what the problem is. This is the only game I have this problem in.

It performs the same with every setting maxed out as it does with every setting on low, including the resolution. It's not a driver issue either because I've used several different drivers with it, and have performed several clean installs of my drivers.

Arkham Knight is notoriously bad for framerate drops and dips especially with the batmobile driving. If it's not a vram issue, you could try killing any background processes to spare as many CPU cycles as you can while playing. The game is still far from a solid build. Better than i was for sure but even with my performance issues being mostly hamemered out. it still occasionally crashes to desktop on me like after playing a game over cinematic.

I'd first start trying to remove as many background processes and programs as i could. if you have a printer driver suite, other game clients besides steam or even a non-essential driver program, those could help too. Also it may be snake oil but you could read up on "CPU core unparking" to see if that's something you want to try.
