There have been bugs on first playthroughs. If you're not using mods and everything else seems normal, you might want to try a few things. Do these in stages so you know what did or didn't work. First, patch and verify the game in case you don't have auto-updates enabled:
1. Select game in Steam Library, right-click Properties, then Updates to Allow Background Downloads.
2. Select game in Steam Library, right-click Properties, then Local Files and Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
Second, if your screen resolution is maxed out try reducing it from inside the game's Graphic Options menu. Players have logged multiple bugs related to overly high screen resolution and collision or interactive events, including: grates, vents, doors, grappling, buttons, interrogations, crime scene reconstructions. You might get lucky.
Third, if you tried the above and nothing worked, try backwinding your save to a previous save point, one of Arkham Knight's best features:
01. Backwind to a previous save point. From the save slot menu:
Keyboard and Mouse: Hold down minus key (-) to display backups, press equal (=) to select.
XBox Controller: Hold down LB (above Left Trigger) then RB to select.
If that doesn't place you back far enough in time, follow these instructions to access backups from Documents folder:
02. Reload a previous save.
Locate your backup folder, typically found here:
Documents \ WB Games \ Batman Arkham Knight \ Steam Account Number \ SaveData \ backup
Follow these instructions, procedure here:

Hope one of those work. Let us know your results.
Had no idea about save rewinds as well so that is great! Saving this for future use if I get an issue.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to respond.
