Does anyone have an actual solution to the Arren Kae bug?

I'm playing KOTOR II on my Mac and while it's running pretty well, my first save file consistently loads as the Arren Kae debug character. If I mistakenly load that file and then subsequently try to load another, the game ends up hanging and I have to quit out and restart.

I've tried reinstalling, I've tried verifying my cache with and without mods, and I've tried some of the other fixes that I saw in a previous thread, but none of that has seemed to work. My first save file continues to be the Arren Kae debug character, and while I'm making it a point to save multiple times, I'm worried that only my autosaves are going to end up being viable or something. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: In fact, I just checked some of my other manual save files and all I'm getting is Arren Kae. Only my autosaves are working and that's incredibly frustrating.
