KOTOR II Widescreen?
Does KOTOR 2 have a built in widescreen support?
I had to go trough quite the trouble to get the first one in widescreen.

This link has a number of fixes for kotor2, including widescreen: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Knights_of_the_Old_Republic_II_%E2%80%93_The_Sith_Lords

The site has also tips for Kotor 1.

YES there is built-in widescreen, just only at 1280 by 768 resolution. Sure, things might not be that crisp, but its much better than stretching or letterboxing.

To do this, open up swkotor2.ini in your Knights of the old republic II folder (in steamapps/common) and change the width and height in both display options and graphics options to 1280 and 768 respectively. Save it and then run the game, and it should work.

Isnt that the site which downgrades kotor 2 if you use the steam widescreen one?

As far as I understand it, the first game all the elements on the GUI were easy enough to manipulate into widescreen, but in KOTOR II they for some reason decided to make the whole thing one consistent image or something. It means that it's very hard to fix. Really sucks. I wish valve would go back to these games and make changes but I suppose that's illegal.

I play it using 1366 x 785 on my laptop. There is slight clipping at the top of the screen but not enough to spoil the game and you get all the cutscene dialogue. Any less than 785 and you can't see the dialogue.

Wow that might be a fix for everyone using 1366x768 (it states here that vertical resolution of 768 won't display the dialogue): http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Knights_of_the_Old_Republic_II_%E2%80%93_The_Sith_Lords#Video_settings

Just a note to anyone who wants to try playing at the 1366 x 785 resolution, that it only works if you download and use the Squizzy Kotor2 Resolution Patcher's swkotor2.exe file (link to this can be found in the URL provided in above post) instead of the original Steam version of the same file and edit the swokotor2.ini file to match those resolution values in the graphics options section. It's a good idea to make a backup copy of the original files first of course.
