Though he forgot to mention, after making those changes, you'll have to start the game with the swkotor2.exe icon (in that same folder).
If you try to start the game with the RunGameID icon or from the Steam Library, it'll reset what you changed.
Question: Have you two turned off the Frame Effects Buffer?
I wonder because, after character creation, it plays a movie (the "disablemovies=1" option doesn't actually turn the movies off, FYI).
The Frame Effect Buffer can sometimes cause the game to crash when switching from the game to a movie and back again. Try turning it off. (either in the swkotor.ini, under [Graphics Options]; or in the in-game graphics settings.)
(If you're wondering, all it does is add motion blur when using Force Speed, and make your character actually turn invisible when cloaked. So you won't be missing anything by turning it off.)
After patching it, changing res I was so desperate about the crashing....
The Effect Buffer disabled on the ini file and it goes well
So many thanks again
